  1. I mean if you can't see the style / size comparison I don't know what to tell you. The big knocks on Young are a) his size (whether he can take NFL hits and see the middle of the field) b) whether his style of play flies in the NFL (he's not an elite athlete and we've seen it fail with Manziel, Mayfield and [to an extent, even though he's a much better athlete] Murray). If anything I have that reaction when anyone compares him to Mahomes.
  2. The fact we're still having this conversation is why I personally wouldn't have traded up to #1. I don't think either QB is a sure thing to succeed in the NFL and for the price we paid they simply have to be a franchise QB. That's an even longer shot.
  3. I mean technically you could also argue that yes, Stroud threw to two 'top 11' WRs in 2021, but his stats didn't fall off very much in 2022 when they left. It wasn't a case of Clausen at Notre Dame being carried by Golden Tate and Michael Floyd (and Kyle Rudolph). And yes, I know he's still throwing to a talented cast.
  4. I mean this is weird guess work from you, but you're also missing out one of the most important voices in the building - Dan Morgan.
  5. Technically Young has proven he can scramble around in College to buy time to make things happen. Manziel did a similar thing.
  6. I think that's fair as long as you're ok with you and everybody in your extended family never getting a job in the Carolinas ever again if it doesn't work out.
  7. I think you're a tad bit premature with this thread. Let's see how the FAs do. Not to mention the QB pick - who absolutely cannot be anything but fantastic, or Fitterer should be fired.
  8. He lost any remaining good will he had with me when he threw everyone under the bus on the way out. I hope he crashes and burns.
  9. I bet they're just changing the uniforms. The logo / font won't change.
  10. So basically what Tepper has racked up in credit card bills taking the top 4 QB prospects out to dinner then.
  11. I like that they're planning on making the blue our primary home jersey - its distinctive.
  12. As a rookie Chinn was our best player on defence - he tackled everything and cleaned up a whole lot from that Star / Rover position. They converted him to S and he just looked lost - too far from the line of scrimmage to make tons of tackles and not quite good enough in coverage to play S. I'm fascinated to see what they do with him next year - there's an All-Pro talent there to unlock imo.
  13. I don't think Luvu is long enough to be a full-time 3-4 edge rusher.
  14. If you had to win a game of College football tomorrow you take Young - no questions. He's a better football player right now - he certainly has more of that 'IT' factor. To me though the NFL Draft is about projection - I just see Young being limited in the NFL. I genuinely don't think he can see the middle of the field - you see him missing wide open players over the middle time after time. He also simply doesn't have the arm to make those off-schedule throws that Mahomes routinely completes (his most favourable player comparison). You would have to build your entire offence around his shortcomings imo i.e. permanently from Shotgun and most throws outside the numbers / deep down the field. I'm not arguing Stroud is going to be a superstar either - I see plenty of flaws in his game too.
  15. CJ Stroud is plenty mobile enough for a pocket passer - I've spent today watching his tape from 2022 and there's plenty of examples of him rolling away from a rusher and extending the play. He's going to mostly hurt you from the pocket, but he's not a statue. I have other worries about him, but his mobility isn't one of them. Hooker at #9 would have got Fitterer fired. As for Richardson - I think he just needs more time in the oven. A one year starter in a very poor offence (both concepts and talent) means he's underdone coming into the Draft. He'll need to sit and learn somewhere - if he goes to the right situation someone might have a franchise QB on their hands.
  16. I'd play Smith at OLB and Luvu at ILB. Chinn would get on the field as a Rover type player. He's proven that he's not good enough in coverage to play SS, but he's probably too small to play LB in a 3-4.
  17. I mean Herbert played most of last season with fractured rib cartilage, but sure.
  18. I guess he didn't make a good impression at dinner.
  19. Have people said that Levis can't be fixed? I think the thing people focus on is that Richardson is 2+ years younger.
  20. PSA I had to poo you due to your lack of sense of humour. American sports fans need more chants than "Let's go Defence" and "Keep Pounding".
  21. You're ruling out a defensive guy with the second round pick?
  22. Damn, how small is that indoor facility?!
  23. Why? The roster is wide open for playing time.
  24. If this doesn't ring out around BOA Stadium when he scores a TD then just fold the franchise.
