  1. It’d be curious to see the other NFCS drafts from that year. I think most drafts after a couple years don’t look great. Only other player I remember being a stud that year was Julio.
  2. Rhule is def missing the point here. CMC on the field healthy is a threat that has to be accounted for. Darnold isn't much of a threat so defenses will stack 8 in the box - motioning CMC out of the backfield then potentially puts a LB on him, and that has to be accounted for. Doing so also gives Darnold a cheap read on coverage, and god knows he needs that. What is the value in giving him 25-30 backfield touches for 4 games only for him to go down again?
  3. Not even sure what your point is with this? Are you saying that CMC is a bad football player, or that the fans are racist because they think he has greater value as a multi position player. I know I shouldn't even engage with this, but I'm honestly curious
  4. “The Panthers should be set on the outside.” How sad is it that Rhule fought tooth and nail to keep BC out of the LT spot, only for him to have better success than anyone there all season. I’m convinced that the only one buying into the Rhule process is Rhule himself. I agree with heavy play action, Darnold is a semi mobile QB and we have wide receivers that can succeed downfield. Seems like a no brainer right??
  5. So you’re saying the Jets are going to trade two top picks for a guy that can’t stay healthy and has a massive contract? You been drinking wine out of a can again?
  6. I don't actually think he was responsible for hiring Brady- he basically said so at the news conference the other day. Something like- "hiring him was way outside my comfort zone." Which to me read that it was not his first choice. And given his propensity for hiring coaches he's worked with in the past, I'd say that furthers the argument. My guess is that Tepper pushed him towards that. My biggest beef with the dude centers around the QB situation, specifically moving on from TB, only to replace him with a dude who's ceiling is only marginally higher than TB. Then, the unfathomable decision to surround a guy who has been completely shell shocked for 3 years, with this O line. Absolutely no one thought this O line would even be average, and yet the coaching staff actively decided these were the dudes. they could have at least upgraded 2 positions through FA (Thuney- 75 PFF) and the draft (Creed Humphrey - 90 PFF) But decided instead to dance around and get garbage FA's, and BC and TM (Jury's still out on both) NFL is all about maximizing on your window of opportunity, ie- taking advantage of players while they are on rookie contracts. Next year was supposed to be the year that we peaked, or got pretty damn close to it. Instead it's somehow going to be a year of regression (slight step back on D with the presumed loss of Jackson and HR) and zero QB prospects, which is really hard to imagine given our current record. I think during the writing of this post I have gone from relatively non committal about Rhule's future, to now relatively sure he should be fired after this season. If next year is destined to be a rebuilding year I think I'd rather do it with a new staff (except for Snow- still love that dude)
  7. I think it’s so incredibly weird that people offer up very specific insight into what’s going on behind the scenes with an organization and individuals. The reality is that we have no idea who is responsible for what. Was it Teppers idea to get rid of cam, or Rhule? Did Rhule assemble this terrible O line or was it Fitts call, etc etc. As a fan base we are sooo quick to start blasting people- I guess that’s more of a product of sucking ass for such a long time, we just have short fuses. I for one am all for giving Rhule the benefit of the doubt for one more season. Unfortunately, next year may be a tank year considering our QB prospects. He had a sub par team competing week in week out last year, so I think he can be a good motivator. Perhaps with a decent offensive coordinator we can at least aspire to mediocrity on that side of the ball. Really that’s been the deciding factor this year- if we were 15th in offense instead of 28th, undoubtedly we win more games. Teddy B and Darnold were always bad decisions tho….
  8. There’s youth in age and youth in experience. Obviously no one would consider DJ young in terms of NFL experience. Sam’s had enough time in the NFL to not be considered young. And obviously not a single starting O lineman would be considered young by either standard. Point being, the guys that matter on offense don’t need a season of play in the NFL to get acclimated to the pace, or physically conditioned like actual rookies. The only current contributor I would consider inexperienced is Chubba. I guess what I’m getting at is there isn’t a learning curve excuse, especially for the O line- those dudes are performing at the highest level they are capable of, which absolutely sucks and then compared to the D where we have difference makers that are young in both aspects- JC, Brown, Chinn.
  9. We’re young on defense, which is obviously our strength. What’s the excuse for the offense. Don’t really have one starter that would be considered “young”
  10. Dude played 4 snaps yesterday… also, don’t bite buts, I don’t care how excited you are
  11. Agree with the assessment- pretty sure after two games last year Cam was absolutely ballin, gotta see 7-8 games before I get too excited. That being said, he’s played the two best games of his career over the last two weeks- not a coincidence.
  12. Yea I don’t really get the point of this thread- was expecting to read some standard Jets garbage, but all of his points were pretty well reasoned and backed up with stats. If anything it now has me thinking that our Oline may be worse than the jets last year, which would probably be the worst we’ve ever fielded. Thanks a lot OP
  13. I will be keeping a close eye on the bears next year. They drafted fields who we maybe should have taken, and then traded with us to take Jenkins who we maybe should have taken. If both of those dudes pop off and Sam Darnold turns into TB2.0, then I will have made my decision regarding this staff. If they don’t pop off and some of our draft picks hit, then I’m cool.
  14. I don’t disagree that it smells terrible, but that paper mill has been around for decades so that smell is nothing new. If you haven’t smelled it in the past 10 months that’s because they were converting 1 of their machines to brown container board.
  15. I guess it depends on how you view Fields. I think fields is QB2 in this draft, think there’s 0% chance he makes it past SF. But agreed, if the Panthers don’t view him as such then for sure he would net us a future 1 at the very least. Gonna be a fun draft either way. Unlike most years you really can’t project much after pick 2.
  16. Would be an interesting decision for sure- with those guys off the board you’re either looking at a Qb that has dropped, or you’ve got your pick of the litter at WR. If you’ve got Fields there you take him 100%. If not then hopefully someone is willing to give us a kings ransom to move up for Lance, Chase, maybe even Jones. I’d prefer to trade back in that scenario and pick up someone like Parsons, who for some reason people have sliding. Dudes gonna be such a stud. But interior OL, LB, CB or even DT is on the table if we’re drafting in the 12-20 range.
  17. Yea he gave up like a 120 passer rating when targeted last year. This dudes a stud, but is absolutely nothing like those guys. Jamal Adams? Yes, Ed Reed, no way.
  18. Could turn out terrible?? So is he the answer to our QB situation, or is he a failure. Difference in all of the above QB’s and Grier is they haven’t failed yet
  19. So just to be clear, you think DJ is a top 5 wr in the National football league?
  20. So I would argue that the top 5 wr in the game can do those things... that’s what makes them a top 5 wr.
  21. Absolutely not. DJ is a top 15 wide receiver, def not top 5. He will rip off a 40 yard catch but then go quite for long stretches. If you can give me one example of him taking a game over like a Hop or Julio I will reconsider. His contract should reflect what he is, 8-10 best wr in the league, anymore than that and you’re paying based on the hope that he takes a big leap. now with all of that being said, it’s still really hard to find a guy that’s as good as he is- we’ve been looking since 89, so is the teams ok with overpaying for an above average wr- no clue. He good, he ain’t great.
  22. Also if we did trade for Carr we’d have to find a trade partner willing to take TB. Otherwise you’ve got about 45m wrapped up in two QB’s with shockingly similar career stats. That would be abysmal.
  23. Watch his eyes?? I don’t even know what to do with that. Regardless that’s not a great argument. Kelvin Benjamin probably looks at the salad bar a lot, but when it’s time to order he gets the meatloaf with the loaded baked potato every time. Also I’m so sick of these “adjusted” stats. PFF says one thing, Next Gen another, football outsiders another. I’d rather just use actually games stats, like this: TB yards per completion career- 11.0 DC yards per completion career- 10.9
  24. Well the knock on teddy is that he lacks the ability to push the ball downfield, but has a high completion percentage because he dumps it off so much. Doesn’t carr have the same issues? Upgrade? Yes. Substantially so? Probably not.
  25. Your point was that La couldn’t replicate TB’s result with Rodgers because there’s only ONE Brady. But in reality LA has a great roster, and in reality Rodgers is a better QB than Brady, by what margin is irrelevant to the conversation. So are you saying that teams that make a move like that are ultimately unsuccessful and it’s detrimental to them long term? Because if so you’re initial comment did not indicate that whatsoever, seemed like you were directly comparing two teams and two QB’s ala your NBA analogy- which isn’t really an analogy because it’s the exact same thing as the original scenario just nba instead of nfl, so doesn’t really help illuminate any greater point. MY point is that LA with Rodgers would be insane, and would be so much fun to watch, and undoubtedly would be Super Bowl favorites going into next year.
