  1. I wonder how much more of an affect there is to home field advantage early in the season. So much bigger crowds and noise compared to what they are used to. With all the restrictions last year this is a lot of the players first times experiencing a crowd like this.
  2. I'm not sure how much of any of this is on Howell so far...
  3. Maybe not but I wouldnt say its impossible. I feel like decision making is a trait that's a lot different than the others you mentioned. I feel like decision making can be helped by scheme and even just the way the quarterback makes their roads. Starting by simplifying the decisions you're asking the qb to make and building from there.
  4. I would take that every off season.
  5. Exactly, I understand the worry about the idea of a qb controversy but Rhule could have stomped that out pretty quick by firmly stating that Darnold is the qb. Minshew would have been a much better option over PJ or Grier.
  6. If Darnold turns out to be a good young qb then it was great value. You cant tell value immediately.
  7. It's crazy they got him for a conditional 6th. He would have been a good backup option.
  8. Yea in the first clip Brown is 4 yards closer to the LoS than the next closest olineman by the end of the 3 second clip.
  9. The sad part of that clip is the rest of the oline collapsed so much they weren't even in the frame anymore.
  10. Yea I was expecting a lot more of the trouble to come from the edge, not straight up the middle in Darnold's face.
  11. All the people saying he just needs more practice, I'm not sure. I feel like he regressed over the 3 games with the third being way more cringey and awkward. Maybe he can though. I'm just not so sure this "tell it like it is" style is as great as some seem to. I'm all for being honest about the play that is ran but sometimes his takes were just wrong and he would just continue with making things personal.
  12. The happy feet he showed and commented on werent happy feet though. That's actually how a qb is supposed to keep their feet moving and bouncing. That was correct footwork for a qb in the pocket. I'm not sure if Smith just doesnt know that somehow or he already knew he was going to talk about happy feet with darnold and just chose a bad time.
  13. Did you watch the game last night? If you did then you saw something totally different than I did. Almost every negative play had pressure right up the middle of the line almost instantly. That's not coddling. You want any qb to have a pocket to be able to step up in.
  14. No because if hes bad then he probably wont play in two games which mean we gave up nothing. Also if he participates in the next practice then he has already contributed more than Perryman ever did in his time here. There isnt much negative about any of these moves so far.
  15. I think they factor in more than just their stats. I believe it is based on how well they run each route and if they "win" that route. I could be mistaken though because I dont think theyve ever made their grading process that open but I believe there is more to it than just grading plays where they are thrown to. Regardless pff is just a tool. It's not a be all end all. It's one tool to evaluate performances. It's still more of a positive to be graded well than badly I'd say.
  16. I dont really blame him at all neccesarily but it also seems like Darnold is at least average then there is a pretty solid chance we are a potential playoff team so I'm not sure what that says about Stafford's mindset. Maybe he just looked at our offensive line, then it definitely makes sense.
  17. If Haskins looks like Mahomes against the starters I would say that's much more of a negative for our defense than anything to do with Darnold, but its preseason regardless so it wouldnt nesscesarily correlate regardless. I also think it's funny you mention that since going by your PJ posts you would be the one posting it if anyone did.
  18. That since Samuel makes 12.5m a season and Robby makes 15m that we overpaid Robby? Robby is a much more proven wide receiver. The fact that its only 2.5m more a year than Samuel got to me says we got a good deal on Robby.
  19. I think if this deal was intended to affect their plans for DJ then they would have done longer than a 2 year extension.
  20. Robby and Samuel arent comparable. If anything I think it proves the opposite of what you think it does.
  21. We are 2 games into the preseason and yall are talking about cracks in the dam showing because of a 6th round pick and an undrafted player in THIS draft.
  22. If they were panicking they would have just thrown him out there and not stated from the very start that he was the week 1 starter and there was no competition. A lot of fans just think they are maybe owed something in the preseason that they're not. The coaches obviously think the snaps at the joint practices are more important. Anything besides that is just a difference of opinion.
  23. Who really benefits from them setting everything in stone to the media? Its not a set scenario is what I take from it basically and it doesnt really seem like it needs to be.
  24. If Darnold turns out as bad as so many people on here seem to want to think we could easily be in the same position or better next time with what looks like a really good draft for the qb position.
