Dare I ask. How bad was the second pick?
-
It's a bad signing no way around it. My preference was to draft an RB and keep Foreman. The oline changes everything though. Remove the Eagles OL put in our OL this is what he looks like. We always needed more of a bruiser.

Good to finally be in the end zone.

How bad was the pick? Was it at least a downfield attempt?

Same one thought the Ian Thomas contract extension was wise.

Trapasso: Young's first few starts are concerning
frankw replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
You can't unequivocally"make up your mind" on Bryce after 4 weeks. He doesn't have the body of work that Reich does that tells us this is just who our new head coach is. He is inept and a dinosaur. But as for Bryce we cannot ignore the concerns that are rearing their head which were known when he was playing at Alabama. If these concerns do not dissipate to some degree as the season goes on the B word is inevitably going to enter the convo as much as some people who want to shout down any dissenting opinions want to deny it. -
Cam Newton and RG3 discuss Justin Fields and Bryce Young
frankw replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
I appreciate the nuggets Cam is willing to offer. Hopefully he continues this with other prospects. I can't recall him speaking much about the other guys unless I missed it. Definitely he and Steve Smith went out on a limb for Bryce. Hopefully he proves them right we don't need anymore failures. But when it comes to draft picks anyone can be wrong even the folks who have years of knowledge. That's why GM's change around the league frequently the ones with long term staying power are rare. Some of it is just plain dumb luck at times. We'll see. -
Word of the day. Bamboozled.

It's sad some folks want to lower the bar for a franchise that hasn't won a division title in eight years. If you're just happy to be here more power to you. Others aren't going to jive with that mentality. This team needs an infusion of grit and we need more players who hate to lose. We might have a couple like that right now. The rest seem to just be going through the motions similar to 2010. It's a dark period. Trading up to #1 we were supposed to be getting our leader who would be a much needed addition to bring some life to this team that has been lacking after watching milquetoast bores like Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold only dig us further into lower depths. Just show us something. We are pretty much bottomed out now.

Baker has the tools he's just kind a tool upstairs. Notice since he's been in Tampa he's also kept his head down and he isn't hocking tshirts with his mug on them anymore like he's arrived before he's even played. He's different and learned something apparently so hey good for him I guess. People who go on and on about supporting your guy and it's only 3 games are acting as if this franchise has acquired a lengthy list of good to great QB's over the years. Sorry that isn't so. Only two in almost 30 years would qualify. The rest are either mediocre or just poo. With that track record people are going to call it like they see it until shown otherwise. Bryce Young can silence a lot of noise. I hope he does. Until that happens if he doesn't play well it's going to be talked about. That's sports. If someone can't handle that maybe go watch golf.

I'm aware of the changes in the league but you and your lols are acting as if everyone is only throwing screens as a coping mechanism because you don't like Bryce Young criticism. Conversely I must say after all your flailing about David Tepper it is amusing you are falling on your sword for the QB he wanted by any means necessary. Anywho. Andy Dalton looked fine throwing downfield for the Panthers. And he's washed at best.
-
Too early to say. I'll make that determination at the conclusion of the season. This one is lost. He needs to get out there and just play football we have nothing else to play for except development. There's no need to be timid or be scared of throwing downfield this has to change whether it's more the coaches or him or vice versa it doesn't matter. Take your shots even if you turn the ball over. I don't care if he throws some interceptions I can accept that a hell of a lot more than I can the fumbles.

The Panthers have a layered problem beginning with poor coaching poor QB play and poor execution all around. If the best thing you can do is look around any thread you enter and start scanning for haters instead of identifying issues with the team that do unfortunately heavily involve our rookie QB you do not seek dialogue you seek an echo chamber. Go create your own message board then if this place isn't up to your high standards. The door is that way

You can shout at people like his mom until you're blue in the face it isn't going to make him a franchise quarterback. Do you honestly think his path to success is to tell him he's doing nothing wrong and everything is going great? How old are you? Legitimately some of you have the mentality of a child. It's baffling. Enjoy your day bud.
-
False. Find something better to do at 9 am on a Saturday than manufacture haters for a QB who has the lowest QBR in the league.

We aren't going to see eye to eye that's okay. But the Panthers history speaks for itself. In all these years our two best wide receivers were Steve Smith and Moose. Moore was possibly working his way into the conversation if he could ever get a real QB to work with. Fields has been up and down and at times downright awful but his potential has always been much higher than Sam Darnold. We should be ashamed for saddling Moore with that bum after having years of tape of him being terrible in NY with the Jets. Going back to our receiving history if we are being honest man it's not looking good that we are going to back our way into another DJ Moore anytime soon. Remember how many years it was when we were hoping whichever WR we drafted would just morph into a #1? We have so many duds and almost no hits. One of our greatest receivers was a TE (Olsen). If we have any chance of redeeming ourselves from this mess it's going to require a full housecleaning and the Tepper's to remove themselves from the picture and stop meddling. But that doesn't seem likely.

Well if your answer is no I am going to have to respectfully argue your judgment is clouded. Panthers fan or not he has concerns. We can live in reality or we can exist in fantasy land and play pretend. As for CJ. I cannot say how he would be doing here neither can you. But the reality is his situation was supposed to be significantly worse. He's making those around him better the same as he did at Ohio State. Do you think they miss his arm talent there at all now? The proof is in the pudding my friend.

Brother we both know your takes on Moore weren't just a couple short posts and that's it. You spent months telling us he was not a #1. I went back and forth with you many a time. I respect your posting and you're a cool guy don't mistake a little extra ribbing for hating. If you feel I'm going overboard be straight up and I'll drop it. If Jeudy is our only option I'll take him but my gut says that probably ends up like another Robbie Anderson situation. If he's unhappy in Denver we are as volatile or worse in comparison we've been floundering for almost 5 years now. Bringing Young into this is reaching and you know it. And furthermore after all your posts about Moore not being this and not being that despite him actually putting up big numbers with mediocre QB's calling me a hater is rich. Moore had proven plenty when you made those posts about him Bryce hasn't. You can do better than that man.
