Nic Scourton- PFF Highest Rated Rookie (Week 5)
frankw replied to ProcessBlue2's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think there are times when we sometimes have difficulty separating Morgan the GM from Morgan the player when assessing his body of work. That comes with the territory of the hire that we made because of our very limited options. But it all boils down to just how involved are the Tepper's. This organization and front office need to run independently without their interference. I don't know that we will ever see that happen unfortunately. But I'll let this thread get back to the initial discussion which was about Scourton playing well. Hopefully we see more of that from him and the rest of the rookie class. -

Just to be clear no one in the front office at the time before or immediately following the 2023 draft including Fitterer Morgan or Reich was saying Bryce Young would need the highest paid OL in the entire league which we now have just to look halfway serviceable. -
When you look at this and line it up with his current YPA based on a comparable number of attempts only rookie Cam Ward and 40 year old Joe Flacco are in his company. For all the investments we've made in the offense this is just pitiful.

If you want my honest assessment I think Morgan is largely doing the bidding of the Tepper’s who are still meddling and guiding moves just as they were when Fitterer was GM. The fact that we have made absolutely no attempt to make any significant changes to the draft scouts in years and instead doubled down on analytics and hired a PFF guy basically confirms this. There's a reason no other legitimate GM candidates were seriously considering the Panthers. I like Dan Morgan. None of this changes my perception of him in Panthers lore. But there are realities that have to be recognized. He's done good things he's done not so good things. There's a lot we still need to see and there are still many football games left to play. All we can do is see what unfolds. -

The only one in this particular thread that is giving the vibe of being obsessed and bothered is the one following others around and going on diatribes about their posts. That's you. All you're doing here is trying to police discourse when nobody asked you to and giving the appearance of someone that is unwell. I hope that clears things up for you. -

Dan Morgan as GM has absolutely paid through the nose to surround Young with as much talent as possible even to the detriment of other areas of the roster. Does that sound like someone who took the job knowing that his success would be dependent on a player he never wanted to draft in the first place? There's no need for revisionist history. -

Sir you've created 6 Bryce Young pity party threads within the last 30 days. At this point you might as well be his agent. -

Scott Fitterer and Dan Morgan were basically best friends by their own words. To argue Morgan was an unwitting participant in the pick is just unnecessarily silly. -
some good news. Greg will call our game Sunday

NOT a fan of Mark Schlereth. I am thrilled to see Greg Olsen in the booth. -

Most people agree the roster has talent. Dan has been hit and miss. The biggest miss currently is the lack of urgency with the QB room. Let's be real here. We aren't going to get to go up against Penix Jr and Tua every week. Even Drake Maye dumped on us. It's a marathon not a sprint. And I am a lifelong Panthers fan but I know there's going to be another egg laid sooner or later.- 90 replies

Great leader for the defense. We are lucky to have him.

It's just performative to go viral. No such thing as bad publicity for attention seeking grifters.

This revisionist history that Bryce Young needs all pro talent at every position around him to flash franchise QB worthy play is wild beyond words considering what he was advertised as before the draft. And he himself happily participated in maintaining that hype by deciding not to throw at the combine because he knew how it would look. He is 34 games into his NFL career. You guys cannot continue to throw every single player and coach under the bus and expect to be met with productive discussion in response.

So you aren't deflecting whatsoever by completely ignoring the information provided and instead just claiming the WR's suck complete ass because Bryce Young isn't a top 10 QB? Cool.

cam Newton makes his return to Madden football
frankw replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cool for Cam. In terms of the game I haven't played Madden in years. Once upon a time I really enjoyed MUT. But the monetization of the whole thing is ridiculous. Guys just spend hundreds and hundreds and in some cases more just to build a team instead of grinding and building it themselves. -
To you and some others every single player on the roster only exists to either make Bryce Young look good or be thrown under the bus if he looks bad. But you claim everyone else is biased and delusional.

For some people there is no limit to the amount of resources we should invest to prop up the guy who is the 4th highest paid player on the roster while still on his rookie contract. Also as I noted in another thread our passing YPG is the best it's been since 2020 and that's with Thielen who has been hyped immensely out of the picture.

Reminds me of the "miscommunication" the org had regarding the use of "Keep Pounding" back in 2021. Shouldn't even be in a position for things like this to be an issue given the state of the franchise the last several years.

How is this thread still going? Herm Edwards said it best with his now infamous quote. Whatever is working ride the hot hand. Worry about tomorrow later.

I don't understand why people have to tear down Cam to boost Jake or vice versa. Both guys were ultimate competitors. If we want to get back to the best days of this franchise if those actually exist then we need that kind of spark that both of them exuded.
