Coker Sanders and Legette showing well means Bryce showing well so that would be really nice to take into the New Year. Boone or whoever will receive the bulk of the carries emerging as a nice backfield piece would be a cherry on top. And none of this should be unattainable. Our division is bad.

Nobody is slandering you for being an an inconsistent fan because most fans are up and down that's sports most people just laugh it off and move on because we all can get that way especially rooting for a bad franchise. But you are continually trying to present yourself as being above the fray and the purest of the pure amongst the fanbase and in turn actually mocking yourself. Just be you dude.

If Bryce Young is the QB we believe him to be there is no reason we can't be at minimum competitive. Like this isn't me being a rival fan talking trash this is just being honest. The NFC South is by definition a bad division. It stinks. Bryce Young has the opportunity to make a very strong case for himself heading into the offseason.
-
I certainly hope so. We're going to find out. This to me is the biggest test of the season for Bryce. He doesn't even need to win. But we need to look competent and at least vaguely formidable. He's a first overall pick.

The reality of the year and having lower expectations.
frankw replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wouldn't this comparatively be cause for caution rather than rejoice based on what remains a small sample size? The Giants with Jones in 2022 and the Texans with Stroud in 2023 both went to the playoffs and won a playoff game. We struggle to even compete in our division. -
That same Chiefs team also let the Raiders take them down to the wire recently. But on this subject now that Chuba is on IR we're going to get to see how Bryce does in 2 divisional games without the engine of the offense. And on that note I would say maybe let's take a break on the CJ Stroud criticisms because in all possibility this could get ugly.
-
Panthers fans mocking Stroud for losing that badly to the Ravens should not throw stones from glass houses. I've seen some things as of recently that make me hopeful for the future but I can pretty safely say all that aside we would not have likely faired much better against a Super Bowl ready team like that either. Neither Houston or Carolina is ready for that yet. Just the reality.

There is nothing controversial about wanting to protect the QB and wanting to invest in protecting the QB almost everyone here has agreed on that and even people who have been Bryce skeptics had wanted us to go even further and draft C instead of a running back with an already torn ACL. This narrative you're pushing that no one wanted to protect our QB or invest in the OL because they wanted him to do it all by himself is nonsense and you know it.
-
Most people I've seen are clearly acknowledging he isn't playing well regardless of the OL. He had a number of opportunities in the Ravens game he didn't capitalize. We can only speculate what might be going on. The Ravens are a significantly superior team to them though and that was evident in last years playoff game and yesterday. The Texans are not that much ahead of us in terms of actually competing for much. No matter how much some people have wanted to talk up their roster like it's one of the best in the NFL. It isn't. And to be clear as far as Bryce last year and the OL we paid through the nose to the detriment of our defense to protect Bryce Young and we are currently what looks like 22nd in the NFL in sacks. As expected he has finally started to show growth. And regardless of that some QB's do better than others under duress. Last year the Commanders gave up 65 sacks and still their QB was 12th in passing yards. Despite that and the circumstances he faced he was sent packing to Seattle.

Didn't say winning and losing is only solely on the QB at all times. Nobody said anything about wanting to lose games either. Idk why you're injecting that. But my post was made in the context of people currently making posts citing data framing Bryce Young as top 10-15 in the NFL amongst his peers and for that to continue yes he is going to have to lead this team to victories early next season. And no one should have an issue with that statement. There is no reason this team cannot compete in such a mediocre at best division.
-
Whether or not you feel like this is the real Stroud or he will bounce back the fact of the matter is he was in the MVP conversation as a rookie and when the games actually mattered for their postseason hopes. We need to see Bryce Young have the kind of season Stroud had as a rookie next year for him to make the jump into any top 10 conversations. PFF data does not determine that. Winning games when they still matter does.
-
That's valid. And to further dive into that the reality is beating up the Cardinals is no more a way to assess whether or not our offense is actually progressing than the definitive win we had against the Raiders earlier in the year. Furthermore the last time we blew out the Cardinals turned out to be a fluke too and coincidentally that game also featured running the ball heavily and was obviously not something that was sustainable. All of the above is why it's best to take the approach of game by game see what you've got and go from there. But next season when the games actually matter for playoff position there should be no more excuses. Plain and simple.
-
Labeling the three QB's who sit atop the passing yardage and passing touchdown charts in the entire history of the NFL as merely ball distributors or game managers to prop up Bryce Young is unnecessary. Let's please stop being ridiculous and just let Bryce play and continue to improve as a starter in this league and go from there.
-
Guys. Statements like this are why we struggle to have productive conversations about our own QB.
-
He's gone from one of the worst amongst all qualified passers to the 20-25 range. And we're waiting to see how it carries over into next season. That's all anyone can do.
-
The Ravens are a Super Bowl contender and a different level from the Texans altogether. We saw this in the playoffs last year. Yes the Texans overachieved last season and they added more pieces in the offseason but they are still a team that is barely 2 years removed from being a single play away from the first overall pick. There's definitely been some overstating of the status of their roster by some folks. As far as CJ Stroud goes it's too early for anyone to say if this is who he will remain and last season was an anomaly but he is having a bad game today against a very good team. All the same if Stroud can look like this after being in the league MVP conversation just a year ago maybe that's an indicator for us to take seeing progress from our own QB with a cautious approach for the time being.

I Think We Are Getting Back In The Good Graces of The NFL

Meh fug the league office now and forever for them letting our QB be headhunted and years later throw a flag if you even touch the QB wrong now. -
Chuba Hubbard wins NFC Offensive Player of the Week
frankw replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
Chuba has worked his ass off to become the engine of this offense. It cannot be understated how far he has come from his rookie season. Hats off to him. Well deserved and hopefully more to come. It should be noted though as far as split backfield or 2 RB system goes I'd prefer Hubbard get the Lion's share of the carries because clearly he works best as the feature back. That isn't to say we don't need another running back to solidify themselves but when you have a guy playing the way he is not just from a production standpoint but all around putting in work blocking too you want that guy to be on the field more often than not. -
At this point we're past coaching. We've seen the same bum ass selfish basketball with now three different head coaches. The culture is dogshit and they might as well just blow up the roster.

Icege has everything to say to everybody today following a win but nada following a really bad game. Some people refer to that as fairweather.
