  1. Even if Burns did hold out I couldn't blame him. We need to get this done and not drag it into the season.
  2. As weak as the NFC and the division has become we better win at least 7 or 8 games. No excuses.
  3. You don't hire someone as your head coach because you want to do them a favor. That's certainly no better than Tepper and Hurney falling in love with Matt Rhule over meatballs. And if you are going to cite unstable ownership as the reason it was unfair one candidate was fired while overlooking whatever the hell Jim Irsay is doing in Indianapolis. Well you don't have a leg to stand on.
  4. Anyone that actually longs for another version of Ron Rivera is beyond convincing. Hell the players once loved him and they also loved a guy named Marty Hurney too.
  5. Right but the 49ers are stacked and have had about half a dozen first rounders to build that d line with. Well that's unfortunate because like Rivera even the defense which is supposed to be the bread and butter of both left a lot to be desired the last time we saw them coaching for us. I've eviscerated Tepper for the clown show he's overseen with Matt Rhule but I cannot blame him for opting to go with an offensive minded head coach this time.
  6. Did you watch the Bengals game bud? I liked Wilks personally but the passage of time seems to have made for some fuzzy memories.
  7. Very reasonable take. I like Scott Fitterer too. As far as the question of what was him and what was Rhule. I'll just leave you with this. He's been outspoken on his thoughts about Ian Thomas being an asset for us despite the results showing the complete opposite. He's got some flaws.
  8. Threads about two former Panthers coaches holding strong on the first page as we are days away from the season opener. Think we need some wins here in Carolina? I don't want to hear poo about rebuilds or taking time. This franchise needs a jolt. I'm not gonna want to hear any excuses if the same issues plague the team.
  9. Overall I concur. The bad cannot be overlooked though because we are still waiting on his first winning season as GM. The longer the wait the more amplified his failures will be because as some folks have told us over the years here repeatedly. You are what your record says. That's just the nature of the business. Hopefully we can string together a better record this season.
  10. Not at all surprised the Cardinals are a complete dumpster fire of an organization. Up until recently we haven't had much room to judge though. And we're still waiting to see if we've turned the corner. As for Wilks no other team interviewed him for their head coaching vacancy. You could argue it was a coordinated effort to keep him out based on his pending legal efforts toward the league. But even though it's bullshit and I think the owners are mostly scumbags you have to acknowledge the likelihood that him airing this dirty laundry out means he will probably never get another look. Anywho for anyone who is passionate about this discussion I'm sure you can find some folks willing to engage on the 49ers message boards. Since he coaches for them now and all.
  11. Here on the huddle a lot of people would have you believe Scott Fitterer has been pressured into moves that ended up being bad for the team. But the moves that ended up being good are definitely all him. Seeing a repeat of the worship like behavior we saw with Gettleman once upon a time.
  12. We cannot absolve Fitterer of that he was very vocal about Corral being part of our future on draft night. Can't keep blaming Rhule for everything.
  13. We dropped Jordan and had to get someone in line with his abilities
  14. Jordan and Erving cut on the same day. Glad to see it. Let's get serious about protecting our quarterback.
  15. Meh we're not doing much in the foreseeable future I could see him improving just as much as I could see him remaining the same inconsistent player he's been to this point. But I like PJ. I'd rather pay guys like him than have bums like Hayward keeping the bench warm all season for a hundred plus million.
  16. There are legitimate critiques to be made about some of his picks and acquisitions but reactionary posts like this just make it difficult to have honest conversations about some of his missteps.
  17. I liked the potential of Shi Smith initially it's a bummer it didn't work out. But what are ya gonna do.
  18. He's on his 4th team but also only 24 and looks like he's developed and added some weight the last few seasons. I really like his potential. We are trying that's all I can ask.
  19. That was a nice ball. If both Stroud and Young who are good friends have productive rookie seasons that will be a great story for the league
  20. If our worst olineman Jordan is still here by this evening...
  21. It is what it is. We took a shot if he's not it you move on. I still would keep him around for depth unless we get a legit offer but considering Trey Lance went for a 4th we'll be lucky to get a late rounder.
