  1. After how the Jaguars butchered their own matte gray helmet and quietly got rid of them it might be best to leave that style alone. At some point the uniforms will be redone and the helmets should and will be redesigned along with that. For me any new helmet design should be silver or black anything else is just overthinking it and not necessary.
  2. The Teddy contract was a Hurney dud but Brady and Rhule were enthusiastic about Bridgewater. Yeah but with the benefit of hindsight now both of those options were a longshot. Plus wasn't it reported we offered the 8th pick for Stafford? That's steep for a qb even older than Cam Newton. Watson was an even bigger gamble with multiple first rounders being talked about and now knowing what we know it appears we dodged one on that. If we had acquired either of those guys the pressure would have been immense on this staff to show immediate results given the discussed resources it would have taken to get a deal done. Again I'm hoping this works out I think we need to give Darnold 2 years it's a lot to expect a full 180 in one offseason despite how optimistic some people are at the moment.
  3. Well he went from pedestrian to a hall of fame career which isn't exactly all that common so would he not be more of an outlier? If you are going to look at both situations you can't really do so without also taking note of some numbers. Drew was putting up a 65% completion rate by his fourth year in a league that was not as pass happy as it is now. By the time he got to New Orleans he only dipped below 64% one season out of 15. Now what we have to ask ourselves is did Drew fall into the perfect situation to hone his skills with Sean Payton? He already had a 64% and 65% season before he left SD. Sam on the other hand is sitting at 59% for his career. The question is will he make the jump. Much is being said about Joe Brady which is valid but if Sam is going to go on to establish himself as a franchise qb it is going to be Matt Rhule who gets him there. For all that has been said about the trade being low risk which it is from a cost resource standpoint it is not however low risk for Rhule or Darnold. They both need this because if Sam fails after the Teddy saga and how it was handled questions will start being asked about the ability of this staff to identify the right quarterback. I sincerely hope Sam is the guy.
  4. It's pretty funny to see someone who got upset over perceived negativity that is discussing the reality of the situation with Darnold's past as a starter turn around and compare him to Drew Brees before a single preseason snap in a new offense. I would be ecstatic if that happens but uhhhh I need to be made a believer just a little bit before I put that level of expectation out there.
  5. I've seen it I need to go through it more but I stand by what I have said all along. This all hinges on his ability to process the field and improve his decision making. We can only hope the staff bring him along quickly because we both know patience is limited in sports Teddy Bridgewater learned this instantly in his brief stint. But more than that the protection has to be up to par or his decision making could very well revert back to his rookie days. Lost in all the sauce of hope and rainbows is the fact that once again the Panthers elected not to go the direct route with left tackle. We took a promising prospect with potential but we have seen this story play out before we're just hoping we finally struck gold. Another aspect to keep an eye on is center our starter has dealt with injury issues and we don't have much else behind him but even he has had his struggles. Hopefully some luck finally goes our way this season.
  6. I don't blame Jones for finally wanting to get out of there. As much as I have hated to see him destroy Panthers defenses I have never heard a bad word about him as a man or a teammate. So this tomfoolery about him being a diva or that he shouldn't or doesn't have the right to do what he's doing is bullocks. Do you Julio fug the Falcons I'm enjoying this entertainment.
  7. It is not an opinion to state that Sam Darnold has struggled in his first three seasons as an nfl quarterback. That is a truth. The opinion begins when we discuss what his future holds. None of us know. Not me and not you just because you have posted here over 100 thousand times.
  8. I hope not. The receivers we just drafted still have enfamil on their breath and have yet to play a down in an nfl game. No you should not ignore offers but you should also be careful not to outsmart yourself. Let's see what these rooks have to offer and go from there.
  9. If you don't like the discussion involving inconvenient truths perhaps you should start your own Panthers community. Of course that would require you to form an original thought that does not involve tearing down others contributions.
  10. He got 30 million dollars to lose games and blame others and he already has another gig. That's more than some other players get. He'll be alright you can rest easy.
  11. It's a shame people try so hard to show their ass over Fields. The vibe is definitely familiar. Everybody wants the same destination we just sometimes disagree on the path. No need to make everything an either or and being proven right isn't everything. Franchises rise and fall with individual decisions now because of how important the quarterback is in the modern league. If you miss an opportunity it could cost you two or three years. Here's to hoping Carolina made the right choice.
  12. Overall considering the moves we have made yes. But this is the time of year where optimism is the highest we haven't even had a full camp yet. I'm with you. Don't forget that offensive line though. That's arguably a bigger question than Darnold because we have struggled to build a consistent line for the last decade.
  13. Of course he means it but Christian isn't the one who will be reading defenses. Hearing about leadership is good but what we all wait to see is the decision making when things are live practice is just that.
  14. NFL players knowing each other from college isn't all that uncommon. They haven't played together in the league before yet. Yes familiarity is a good thing but McCaffrey is saying the right things for his young quarterback who the team has invested in. It's basically coach speak for players.
  15. That's actually good to know. Makes me feel a little better. But all this hinges on Sam's decision making. I don't think his other qualities have ever come into question.
  16. That first turnover will be a doozy here. We know how these boys on the huddle get down.
  17. I'm ready to see some throws. The hype videos of guys walking around in shorts just make me cringe knowing this teams trash record against the nfc south lately.
  18. He's known the guy all of five minutes what else is he going to say?
  19. Oh come on he knows what he said and what he meant and he was smirking the whole time through the interview. He has the right to be salty but don't walk it back now.
  20. It is hilarious how angry you get about this.
  21. Looks like one of the Hornets Martin twins with the beard.
  22. You think about this place too much when you close the screen out my guy. It's just a chat room not real life.
  23. I am really hoping things will be different for him. But the second throwing motion change in three years and the quarterback this board spent several weeks ridiculing as having a weak arm possibly pushing him for the job is not a good omen for a former national champion rookie of the year and mvp. Time is a vindictive bitch.
