The Athletic's Ted Nguyen scouts Kenny Pickett
Panthers Rhule replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree I'll join you. I agree I think this new concept of high ceilings is used to elevate players who didn't play as well as others. In the NFL, ceilings are not judged by how far you can throw or how fast you can run like they are at the draft. Ceilings are judged by how many games it looks like you can win not only now but moving forward. A great example of this is Mac Jones. At the draft time, his ceiling was very low. What's his ceiling now? Now, it's he could be a QB to make NE a playoff contender again. I'd say that ceiling has moved up a lot. I read people on here all the time saying what we all know is true, Mac Jones was the best rookie last season. System QBs can win a lot of games. Brady is a system QB too. TB won the SB running the same offense Brady ran in NE more or less after Brady made them change it when they risked not making the playoffs. Yes, this. People always talk about athleticism being important and Pickett is EXTREMELY athletic and yet I never hear people in the media raving about his high ceiling because of his elite athleticism but they do for other prospects. Pickett is an elite athlete and yet he gets no credit for it. He's the only elite athlete in this draft who has a lower ceiling than others who have a higher ceiling because of their elite athleticism . If they compare them all as elite athletes then they have to talk about elite accuracy and mechanics and being the most NFL ready or the best scheme fit for Carolina. That would make the best or right QB debates go away. In the NFL, high ceilings are judged by how many games you can win. -
I see this as BS. If Atlanta wants Willis they'll have to trade up to 5 to get him and lose picks. If he's not there we're taking these OTs. That way, if anyone else wants Pickett then they are safe and don't need to move up. Because we are definitely drafting Pickett. To drum up interest in Willis? We can only hope the Falcons take the bait.

RG3 was very good. I always thought so. However, I also believed he wouldn't survive the NFL if he continued to play that way. RG3 and Corral are almost exactly the same size and play with the same style. With players like that, you must ask yourself if they can still be as good if they play differently. If not then it's only a matter of time before the inevitable happens.

I see shades of RG3.

Rhule: One QB will be a top 10 pick this year
Panthers Rhule replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Are you comparing Willis to Newton??? -
I just love this argument. The "well he wasn't always as good as he is now" doesn't mean poo imo. All I care about is this question "is he any good now?" I hear very few people saying he wasn't good last season which is as close to now as you can get.

I really find it hard to believe that an NFL GM would draft a QB with so many flaws on the most important traits of an NFL QB who played at Liberty and still didn't dominate based solely on what some say is his "potential" to be a good QB. Anyone who drafts Willis is going to have to teach him how to do practically everything. Run a pro-style offense, read a defense, find more than 1 receiver per play, stay in the pocket, don't run into the DL and get sacked or they will have to run a gimmick offense around his running abilities. -
Rumor: Garoppolo could be flat out cut.

At least, somebody did. I still believe they intended to draft Mac but someone else stepped in last minute because of all the bad press about him not being any good. -

There are rumors that Lance isn't ready to start. If that's true, SF isn't trading or cutting Jimmy. They'll keep him one more season. -
Me too. I loved the night set. Those drums were amazing.

Person asks about GM / Head Coach "alignment"
Panthers Rhule replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wasn't that the other way around? Seriously. I remember that rumor but in reverse. -
Honestly, I think that's exactly what we're planning to do. We drafted double last year to fill our depth. This year we've added a lot of FAs. We have around 73 players currently on the roster now I believe. We draft 1 player at 6 to be an immediate or soon to be starter if it's a QB and the rest can battle for a spot on the final roster. We don't need to draft a lot of players.

It's not an antiquated system. We saw it in the playoffs last season. IF MacAdoo does something similar to what the Giants ran then the passing game will be WC style with a lot of quick reads and shotgun. The power run game helps set that up and helps keep pressure in check as they must respect the run. It also sets up play action which is very effective. This is why I'm so big on Pickett. He is the only QB that I see in this draft who has the accuracy and quick release to make such an offense click.

Dude, it's ok bro. I don't think they were criticizing your experience cuz. They were just trippin on the fact that people other than them were still day trippin bruh, It's all good. Wait....what?

How is this a fresh identity? You want Cam 2.0. That's not fresh, it's old and doesn't taste very good anymore.

Drugs and a gun tho. He either had them or he didn't. It's not an accusation.
