He signs elsewhere for 2023, We'll be picking in the mid teens and looking for Rhules 4th journeyman QB in 4 years. Sounds like a waste of time to me
-
We ran the ball effectively last year, the coaches just chose not to. Remember the Giants game where we were basically tied around halftime and then we threw it like 30 times in a row for no reason?
-
I wonder if he liked when we were running like 7 play action pass plays in a row without even handing the ball off. At least the QB has the option to run in the RPO. I think the scheme concern is all overrated, Corral had no problem hanging in the pocket in shotgun when he had decent weapons in 2020. He just ran a shitload last year because it was the only way to get 1st downs with the team he was playing for

According to Scott.... QB competition between Matt and Sam
Jackie Lee replied to Lurk21's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nice long breakdown of some Corral tape. I think I watched these guys break down Fields last year and I like their style, got some nice full field/22 angles and so far I can see Matt going through progressions required at the NFL level even though he had to create some out of thin air. He may have some seemingly weird incompletions but he's not gonna throw nearly as many softballs into coverage as Kenny Pickett looks like is coming for him -
Hopefully we can associate him with something other than a glorified sit down fast food buffet.
-
Nothing is gonna happen until he can prove that he can throw in training camp, and then it's gonna be too late for any team to want to trade for him as a day 1 starter not knowing the new teams playbook. I think they keep him, maybe cut him if Trey Lance is obviously ready during preseason. Sucks for Jimmy but he decided on the surgery kind late and they're giving him the opportunity to be traded, just no ones biting unless Rhule throws a hissy fit. Don't think Rhule has that kinda leverage anymore though
-
Over the cap is kinda confusing but it looks like a $20M dead cap split over 3 years if we cut him next year, and would save $12Mish? So $7M or so dead cap for 3 years...Probably shouldn't have paid a running back that kinda money. He's definitely not going anywhere this year but after that it's manageable if he's totally worn down. Move him to the Deebo role and it's good value if healthy
-
SF can cut him and only owe him $1M, like $25M of his salary isn't guaranteed. Don't see why they'd eat $10-15M for a 5th round pick. Maybe agree to an extension and trade but I'd really not want to do that with an average QB coming off shoulder surgery. We on the other hand are negative $30M in cap next year and shouldn't be investing $40M in a Darnold/Jimmy G/PJ/Corral QB battle

Interested in where these guys fall on his list, seems like a waste of time to me at this point but whatever.

"Best bets" article puts Panthers under 5.5 wins
Jackie Lee replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
So this guy isn't expecting the team to make any progress during the season, which is totally fair considering we actually regressed. Interesting both years we had early 3 game winning streaks and then got figured out/nearly got shut out. -
I'd say lets switch Sam back to linebacker, but he'd probably pick up the same 55.2 PFF grade. Just as the QB of the defense. Maybe he should stick with wakeboarding and try to make some noise at the X Games

College football might be about to get real interesting
Jackie Lee replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
These old rich guys are just pissed top recruits can either afford to go wherever they want if they think they can land some sponsorships or they're going to have to pay more off the books to recruit them than they had in the old system. I hope it makes some smaller schools and HBCU's more competitive so we don't see the same schools at the top every year. Quality of facilities/media attention will still differ but I don't see how it's not a good thing for underdogs in general -
He also said in a tweet that Minshew doesn't even have Teddy's arm, which seems like a stretch and even if true it doesn't matter if they guy is afraid to launch the ball.
-
They're including ticket prices which is BS. Buffalo is super working class and it's fuging cold in the winter so not high on the list of opposing teams fans travel destinations.
-
Is he only releasing 5 spots a day?
-
Foreman actually has good hands. Kinda a younger and bigger Mike Davis. I think people don't give Rhule enough hate for taking Chuba who has stone hands and is smaller than Corral who people don't think should run a single ball at the NFL level

Tepper Sports to install grass field but not for Panthers
Jackie Lee replied to GRWatcher's topic in Carolina Panthers
Keeping grass would be like $500 a year out of a normal persons pocket for Tepper -
Tepper Sports to install grass field but not for Panthers
Jackie Lee replied to GRWatcher's topic in Carolina Panthers
It would probably do more for the community if he paid people to resolder the grass after every event. Probably more year round work than a couple 10 hour temp job shifts working a concert where Teppers making $10 profit off every Bud light -
Kurt Warner on The Herd, talking about our new QB.
Jackie Lee replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
Also don't hide Sam from preseason games again this year. Remember the whole "We don't want to give too much away playbook wise"?. They literally didn't have anything else to give away, maybe a couple QB runs that teams figured out a whole 3 games into the season -
With quality QB play. Is this roster ready to go?
Jackie Lee replied to iamhubby1's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Corral had stayed healthy and played in the Senior Bowl he probably would have gone in the 1st round. That Ole Miss roster was not good last year and he won 10 games. The alcohol/drinking too much as a freshman stuff is probably 90% of college players, Corral was just open about it and it was such a boring draft the media needed something to spice up the narratives. Nothing spicy about Pickett or Ridder -
If this doesn’t get you excited about Matt Corral, nothing will
