  1. Alvin Harper as well. #2 to Irvin and he looked great and signed a big deal with Washington. Same results. Not saying Higgins isn’t good, he is but the assumption that he can carry this team with Bryce, not Burrow, throwing to him is very risky. His price tag just went up and we’d have to overpay. He could be good and still never match up to what we’d pay because he’s not JJ or Chase.
  2. We're still 4-11 and we only beat the Raiders, Giants, Saints and those lovable Cardinals who can never beat us. Blowing through the cap every year is not how you get a real contender. It covers up the horrible drafting and gets us a couple wins more than the worst team. We say the OL is fixed after all that money and yet a bad Dak-less Cowboys exposes our bad drafting and demolishes our OL from the center out. What does Higgins get us? No cap space and 5 maybe 6 wins? Until we start building through the draft we are going to keep spending all our cap space and by the time we sign some DL and say our DL is fixed, Lewis and Moton will be gone and the OL will be a problem again. We need to rollover cap space and actually draft well. Once we have a couple good drafts then you have the money to fill in the holes with top FAs.
  3. I don’t think the Dolphins fine was solely for “tanking.” Don’t forget the Flores lawsuit. That bit of info was one of the things that Flores mentioned basically saying he never had a chance to succeed and the minority hiring was a sham. Pederson is the only in game ranking that I’ve ever seen. Sitting Hurts for a guy who couldn’t hit the broadside of the barn in a close game was obvious. Eagles didn’t get fined or lose a pick, they just fired Pederson. Sitting Horn, Hubbard, Moton etc. is how you really tank. It looks like we did it 1 week too late. Our 2nd rounder from the Rams is also getting worse every week. Arizona losing to us and their helmet interception yesterday cost Arizona (or Seattle) the division. Had they beat us and McBride turned earlier, Arizona (or Seattle) locked up the division from the Rams. The Rams would have been out of the playoffs completely even the WC spots.
  4. That’s our drafting and trading prowess. We have the number 1 pick two years in a row and all we got out of it was Bryce and less talent. Now that we need a top pick, everyone sucks and we might pick 10th. You can’t make this poo up, especially after losing out on Herbert by 1 win followed by losing out SF giving us 3 1sts for their drafting of Lance by 1 win. I’m pretty sure that we’ll miss out on a stud by 1 pick due to a meaningless win or we’ll just fug up the pick. Unfortunately, when it comes to the draft, we still haven’t seen any improvement at all since Gettleman’s last and best draft.
  5. Small handful? There are dozens of QBs that started their rookie years and your examples are a bit of a stretch as proof: Brady - 6th rounders don’t usually even make a team yet he became the starter year 2. Mahomes - like Rodgers, he was drafted into a team with a playoff QB already entrenched and Bradshaw - Started 8 games his rookie year. Montana - like Brady, 3rd rounders QBs are absolutely not expected to start their rookie year and most times they don’t ever become starters. He became the starter year 2. Staubach - this is a silly example. He was a 10th rounders pick because he spent 5 years in the military after Navy. He didn’t play football for 5 years and he’s an example of a QB not starting as a rookie? Here’s a bunch of examples of successful QBs that were rookie starters since Cam and some old ones I remember: Elway, Marino, Aikman, the entire Manning family, Newton, Stroud, Lamar, Wentz, Goff, Mayfield, Allen, Stafford, Lawrence, Mac Jones (jk), Watson (before happy endings), Tannehill, Luck, Burrow, Herbert and Tua. There’s even less than successful QBs who were rookie starters like Murray, Trubisky, Jones, Winston, Mariota, Bortles, RG3 and maybe Bryce. Heck, Winston and RG3 went to the pro bowl his rookie year.
  6. Very true. Our overall talent, especially depth is awful because our drafting since 2018 has been atrocious. Most of the rare good players have been traded. It’s why we get posts about how good Mays is at C until he gets ragdolled by Dallas. It’s been nice to see us be competitive but we’ve only beaten a 3 win Oakland, 2 win Giants, 5 win Saints and an underachieving Cardinals team we always seem to beat (Murray looked like he gave up in the 4th). Yes, we put up a fight against KC and Philly, but everyone has been playing close with those two. We need to start winning drafts. Sorry to the OP, but saying Brooks showed us why we drafted him in what 12 touches for 45 yards? Seems to me he showed us why it was a mistake to draft him after another ACL after only 12 touches. We had a terrible draft yet again and that has to change. We can’t keep taking risks like we do with every single pick.
  7. Well the feed is at least watchable unlike that awful fight but it still is way behind other live streamers. You can’t go back and forth at all. There’s no mini box as you FF/REW so it’s impossible to know where you are.
  8. I don’t know who the guy is that you are debating, but there is no sense in trying to defend our recent drafts. They are unfortunately bad and a good reason why we are 11-38 in our last four years and don’t even have any new “studs” on the team. Most 1st and 2nd round picks flash right away. Saying other teams bust and you need three years is just an excuse. Players not developing until year 3 or 4 is a rarity nowadays, it’s just an excuse for our current and prior GM. The only cases of those are typically on good teams that don’t need players to start right away alah KC and Mahomes or GB and Rodgers. The only guy who I think has done well recently for us is Canales based on the actual team talent level. Morgan has made a couple good FA moves but his best was spending more for guards than any other team. He’s been meh otherwise and again almost Fitterer like in the draft.
  9. Me too. We were stupid in our approach that year. Instead of trading Moore and Burns for 3 1sts (Packers offered their 1st) and a 2nd, we trade CMC for a late 2nd and some change. If you are trying to get a top QB in a draft where the top 3 go 1, 2 and 4, you tank so you don’t give up Moore for pocket change and you don’t end up extending Burns and trade him for pocket change. As for Sunday, I enjoyed the win but I also understand why people would have rather lost. We have a history of making bad picks and being 1 pick away from an all pro. I like Brown but would I rather have Herbert, yes. Horn isn’t great so yeah, I’d rather have Sewell or in that draft we actually would have had the 3rd pick with one more loss. I can’t even imagine what it would have been like to have SF’s firsts and then a year later gotten the Rams’ firsts. Bounty of talent, ugh. Then again, Fitterer would have surely fuged up multiple times, so I get just enjoying the wins. I don’t think either side is wrong because, let’s face it, the only reason we are having this discussion is because Jo yet again, we will end with 2-7 wins again for the 7th straight year. If we weren’t a poo ass team year in and year out for almost a decade, we’d always cheer for wins because we’d be picking 20+. On the wipes side, I am a TP and wipe guy. I like to keep the wipe usage to a minimum but like @Jon Snow said above, I like it sparkly clean. We will be building our semi-retirement/retirement home soon and a bidet or fancy toilet with one built in is 100% happening. Just need to make sure there is an outlet for the heat and programming. The only thing better is pooing pre-shower, still need some wiping you barbarians, just not sparkling.
  10. It looks like we are locked into a top 10 pick no matter what. We can’t win more than 6 and SF’s SOS is way above ours. If we will both, we are 10th. Jets and Bears won’t win 2 and NO without Kamara is losing out. If we win 1 more game, we are likely 9th as NOs SOS is above ours. I think 7 is our ceiling if we win 1 as well so likely 9th but possibly 7th or 8th. I can’t imagine any of the craps teams in front of us winning 2. If we lose both, we are 5th to 7th. I think 5th is likely because I think the Raiders beat NO and Tennessee beats Jax. That would be best for us if we lose out. We can’t be worse than 7th unless somehow the Jets jump us in SOS. There is a magic trick where we could get 4th but asking any of these crap teams to win twice is lunacy. I enjoyed the win but damn, it wouldn’t have taken much (Jax beat Tenn and NE beating a resting Buffalo) to get us to 2 or 3 if we had lost. At 2 or at 3 with NE at 2 would have potentially gotten us that dream scenario where someone trades a mini farm to us for QB2 to get past a QB needy team like Cleveland.
  11. Harrison does not impress me at all. He had that one amazing game, but to sit and wait for the ball instead of attacking it is why Jackson could make the plays. Nabers is clearly the top WR in this draft class. Harrison needs to play better or he’s going to be a bit of a bust.
  12. We’d be better off for the future if we had taken Wilson instead of Iky. Based on where we will draft, one of two stud LTs will very likely be available to us. With the two QBs, two CBs, Graham and maybe Carter, we might be better at LT with Wilson also. Iky is always going to be a liability pass blocking. We also could have gone CB or C instead of XL. Team wise, I think we’d be better overall. I’m worried we may miss out on the clear defensive studs in this draft and reach because we don’t want a LT.
  13. I hate to be KB’s defender but that was on the ref 5 yards from KB and the CB. The play should have been stopped immediately. KB knew he touched the CB and the play was reviewed and overturned for a touchback because the CB was down. It all goes back to protecting QBs. I have no doubt that if Brady was the QB, the whistle blows because you’d be letting a potential dangerous play continue for no reason. We saw our own TD get suspended for a blindside block on Adams on an interception return. Cam was QB and this was 2016, so no whistle. KB has no idea that Cam will hurt himself trying to tackle. It’s not his call to blow the whistle. I understand he could have just tried to tackle the guy, but he and the asshole ref are the only guys who know the play will be overturned on review. Also, 9 other offensive players didn’t make the tackle and I’ll bet that if we go frame by frame there are a few not giving 100%. The refs spent all of 2016, from the SB to week 1 to this game not protecting Cam ever. The zebra right next to the play should have stopped a dangerous play, period.
  14. The only way NE beats Buffalo is week 18 if Buffalo rests. That’s very possible as KC is 2 games up on Buffalo and Buffalo is 2 games up on Pitt/Baltimore. Buffalo wins today and next week against Jets and KC beats Pittsburgh and those two are locked into seeds 1 and 2 before the last game.
  15. Young got a call as a small guy that Cam would have never gotten. It was a bad call but oh well, we seemed to have Arizona’s number over the years.
  16. One note that’s missing in here is playoff teams sitting the last week. NE plays Buffalo and KC is 14-1 and the Steelers are now 2 losses back. If KC and Buffalo win next week and Buffalo wins tomorrow, seeds 1 and 2 are locked. I’d have to look but Pittsburgh plays KC next week and Baltimore plays Houston. I don’t know what the tiebreakers are but a KC and Baltimore win next week could lock Baltimore into 3 seed and they could rest against Cleveland in the last game. I think because there could be some locked up seeds this season with the league having so many bad teams that we may see a lot of top teams resting guys in week 18.
  17. No he wasn’t. He had multiple good games after that Pittsburgh game but he had 45 TDs in 2015. He finished with 28 in 14 games in 2018. That TJ Watt hit is glorified in here but his shoulder was already a problem. He had shoulder surgery after the 2016 season and he was added to the injury list the game before Pittsburgh. The hit didn’t help but Cam threw for 357 yards and 3 TDs the week after the “hit” and was 25 of 30 for 256 and 2 TDs the next week.
  18. You are correct. In 2020, ESPN had us 32nd in terms of continuity. All the coaches were new and we lost tons of starters like Luke, Cam, Greg, TD, etc. CMC played 10 games in Rhule’s first two years. Rhule wasn’t good but we came close to beating both #1 seeds in 2020 with Teddy and we started 2021 3-0 and there was talk about playoff byes. Again, bad but much better than the coach and GM we empowered. The Cowboys game really threw ice water on the 5 game feel good run, but it still feels way better than the we got lucky to win 2 games last year.
  19. In my dream, we somehow luck into a top 2 pick and someone wants a QB bad and doesn’t want anyone else to jump them. Somehow we’ll probably screw up the picks anyway, but it would be nice to do even partially what Chicago did to us. We’d have to lose out, which is a decent possibility unless Tampa is resting. We need Atlanta to stay within a game because Atlanta beat Tampa twice. The rest of the draft slots are who knows because Jax plays the Raiders and then Tennessee and you never know who will rest starters. I think we are top 7 unless we somehow pull out 2 more wins. The 4 win teams have higher SOS and there is only one 5 win team with the same SOS. If we win 1 of 3, we still should stay in top 7. If we lose out and the Jax games work for us, we can easily be top 3.
  20. Not sure who would end up at QB but could you imagine a front 7 of Star, Short, Ealy/Addison, Von Miller, Luke, TD and Shaq in 2015? Miller would have been deadly having 11 sack Short on the interior with Star. That would have been a crazy fun D to watch.
  21. I won’t say it destroyed us because we could have taken Stroud and just made better picks like not DJ Johnson and Matt Corral and Mingo and so on as well. It just put us in a position to trade up and make the wrong choice. Young could be OK and we could eventually win but it still set us back a lot because we spent so much and he doesn’t look like a stud. It does suck to look at the picks we gave up and the selections we made and see obvious choices that were thrown out in the draft threads: Young over Stroud Humphrey over TMJ Frazier over Cooks Downs/Dell over Mingo Cross over Iky (for pass blocking prowess) De’Von Achane over DJ Johnson - Actually looking back at the 10 players picked right behind DJ, you will see a bunch of contributing starters. Crazy how bad we are at drafting.
  22. We would have made the playoffs and had a pick in the 20s. We wouldn’t have been able to trade up for Young. We might have kept Darnold another year and picking from Tampa’s spot and the pick for CMC, we could have picked Kinkaid, Flowers, Smith-Njigba or Addison in the 1st, Reed or Rice in the 2nd and Dell or Downs in the 3rd. Could have solved the WR issue and seen if Darnold was worth it while also still having Moore and our 2024 1st and 2025 2nd. Instead we lost all those picks and have Young. We also could have ignored XL and taken Frazier at C or DeJean at CB. Team would be a lot more talented and likely winning the division.
  23. I’m sure the hit didn’t help but the shoulder injury/surgeries started in 2016/2017. According to this article about his 2019 surgery, it says he was added to the team’s injury report for the week 8 game. The Pittsburgh game was week 9. It was a bad hit, but he was already experiencing shoulder problems again before that game. If Newton missed the next week or separated his shoulder or broke his collarbone, I might agree with you but a bad hit doesn’t tear a rotator cuff. It took years before all the wear and tear got to him and after that he had shoulder issues from 2016 until his career ended.
  24. Baker has improved and gotten some nice weapons too but I think you are right on Darnold. Even last night, we saw interceptions/almost picks, but with Jefferson, Addison, Hockenson and Jones, Darnold has weapons he never had anywhere close to here.
