Thats fair. I think the team went with the upside of Darnold vs the consistency of Bridgewater. Season is not over yet and we are locked into him for next year. So we may as well try to make this work. Im not saying that Sam is the answer, but I also dont want to see us waste a 1st round pick behind the oline as is stands. We need to fix the oline this offseason THEN see if we need a new QB.
-
Im not an offensive guru... so I have a question on Brady... Is he creating good plays but the team unable to execute them because of the oline? Brady seems like hes a smart guy, but maybe the team just cannot execute his scheme at this point? I feel like we run every OC out of town... I cannot remember one OC we actually all liked.
-
I'm also scared that this team tends to chase decent OCs out of town early

When does the media stop calling Brady a genius?

Joe Brady continually is called a genius. But I would expect that a guy like that could get consecutive completions game plan

At what point do they just have to bench Darnold?

At this point we have traded draft picks for him so we may as well play with the season and Hope he develops -
This is painful

I was definitely not a fan of the Hubbard pick because we had CMC but man that is looking like a good selection right now

Im well versed to speak about construction. There are a lot of misconceptions here so lets have do an example I can speak to. If my kid came up to me and said "Dad how to I make the most amount of money the fastest?" I would say work as an electrician. Working in a SKILLED trade pays very well from day 1. For an example, my brother wanted to become an architect. Where Im from thats minimum 8 years university before you graduate. Average starting wage for an 18 year old electrician is 40k. Average starting wage for a 26 year old architect is 60k Now you might say, that 20k difference will be caught up on shortly. But your forgetting that the architect has 8 years of not working (cause your paying for school) vs 8 years of working. If both kids are equally ambitious the electrician will specialize in security wiring, data or just start their own company. The architect will need to work for another decade before they have any of those opportunities. If both kids are ambitious they can both get rich. The gap between white collar and blue collar AMBITIOUS people is nill.

wow... ok Newton: I dont get why fans get all hurt feelings when a player is cut. Could they have been nicer to Cam when they cut him? Sure, but players are cut everyday. Team still reeling: No. Cam's performance last year was enough to justify we made the right decision. 2021 Sam Darnold is better than 2021 Newton. Poor hiring: Rhule was one of the most sought after coaches that hiring cycle. 2 weeks ago we everyone was saying we had the best kept secret in Snow and were saying their good byes to Brady. Rhule by all accounts is at least 1 year ahead with this rebuild. We are not there yet, but building it up. We have the right owner, right coaching staff and right FO. We are building something special. Just try to stick around long enough to enjoy it.

I hate playing beta's... 'finished games' are already buggy enough lol Whats the benefit of playing the beta? Do you get to keep any of the progression?

I agree, Phil got cute. But TBH Dallas has one of the best offensive rosters in the the league. We just got beat. -
It's so bad. Grades are legit

What about Jake Delhomme? Jimmy Classen?

Stephon Gilmore: Why this was such a slam dunk

Your comment is confusing. Obviously none of us here could have predicted this, but it is easy to see expected or predicted outcomes of this. -
Stephon Gilmore: Why this was such a slam dunk
CanadianCat replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cannot complain about whats not on the menu. Gilmore was served up. -
I'm having a really hard time seeing how this could be a bad move for us and a lot of reasons this was a slam dunk. Here are a few... Mentoring the youth: Gilmore is known to be a 'pro's pro'. Some are saying that just having him in the same room as Henderson will bring Henderson (and Horn) along much faster and 'fix' whatever people think is wrong with him Never enough quality corners: Our CB room is full and full of high level talent. Allowing Henderson to be CB 3 or 4 will take the pressure off him and only make the entire defense better. We now have the ability to get coverage sacks along side our regular blitzes and pass rush. If he balls out and walks: He Gilmore comes back and plays at an all pro level and we dont resign him, he will likely get a 3rd round comp pick for him. Considering we traded 6th rounded in 2 years from now thats a steal of a deal. If he balls out, we resign and let DJack walk: I dont think this will happen but of the coaching staff and FO (whom I fully trust) think this is the best move, likely we will then also get a high level comp pick for him while still having Henderson and Horn as top end talent in that room. Salary Cap: Signing him has really no impact for future plans unless we resign him but looking at this year only, we had the space and secured a top end player. If we resign him and DJack: I think these would be 2 very different contracts. Gilmore would likely be a 3 year deal but with the 3rd year voidable. DJack would likely be a 5 year deal. We have the space to sign both, and Gilmore would likely be gone before we need to sign Henderson and Horn. Im running though all the scenario and think this was a master work signing all the way around.

Agreed.

If we dont resign him and let him walk, would we get a comp back?!
