Reporter asked the question (paraphrasing) "The staff pride themselves on being a developmental staff and we see lots of young players playing on offense, yet we don't see that on the defense?" Canales "Yeah I would like to see that too"............

I think Thielen wanted to leave and we got decent compensation for him. We would have been a better team with him but Morgan played the hand we had well IMO. Cooker going down really hurt us though.

We ran the ball well yesterday. I thin kif we can get a lead we can maintain it. Yesterday just looked like everyone was trying to hard to make plays and then made mistakes. Evero.. Im willing to give him the season to see what he can do.. but he needs to make this a top 20 unit to not get fired.

I think you are right... BY is not Canales "guy" he is working with what he has. Hopefully BY turns into the guy but if he sucks this year next offseason we are QB shopping. I think Canales is our coach almost no matter what next year regardless of this years result. Not to derail the conversation, but time also allows us to forget that Cam was never a great thrower of the football.

I rewatched the game this AM and yeah the stats are a bit deceiving.. The DL played ok I though. The biggest issues was the inability to tackles by the LB's and Safeties. I also found guys over committing on their run gaps which lead to chunk runs. To me this looked like a young, immature team that made mental mistakes by trying too hard. They need to play smarter not harder. This is an improved roster from end of the year last year. I think this can get cleaned up. Im not ready to write off the season yet.

Wouldn't expect much else from Hunt. Thats what he is paid to do.

Sounds like his agent was the one that made this a bigger deal than it needed to be?!

I think he gets a pass for last year, but if he doesnt have a drastic improvement this year he is gone.

Come on BY show us something now.

I expect to see a better team on the field this year.. pushing for 2nd place in the NFCS. We are not at the point to make a run against the Eagles or Detroit or even the Bucks at this point. I just want to see a team that is playing in meaningly games in December this year. More than that, I want to get a definitive answer on BY this year. Next year has to be the year to push.

Ive been high on Wallace as well. I hope that Morgan is able to find these late round guys as Wallace as his star find. ... as a Panthers fan, its hard not having ELITE LB's on the team!

First off.. man its awesome to have such an in depth review. Also knowing he love's the Panthers makes this a fun listen. That said, until we prove it, we deserve this ranking. Bryce Young could be either a top 10 or a bottom 5 QB. Im banking on the former but we need to see it. We need a lot of things to go right to make us a competitive team but I think we have those pieces in place... but other teams have also improved... I cannot wait for the season. I want BY to COOK!!

ha! Yeah in the pre-draft process I saw a few people mock him to us.. was not a fan. Reminded me of Travon Walker. That said we essentially drafted that type of player in Nic Scourton.

Its the offseason.... Would you trade a 2nd and a 4th rounder for him?

Big fan of this FO. And say what you will about Tepper but I like that he is not afraid to spend money on talent within the Front Office. That is a competitive advantage we have.

I liked her big hug for Tet when he got here. I also really like how Canales wants to get to know his players... I like that he is trying to create a family vibe, all the while being very vocal that you have to compete to be on the team. I think we are building something special here.

To me he seemed to allow Tillis and Morgan do their thing. To me it showed he has trust in the FO. Very different than Rhule who as a coach wanted to make all the decisions.

I would agree to the need. But would be against the compensation in terms of a trade or cap. Honestly, if Im trading for any position its for another o-line. I like that position on paper.. I have an uneasy feeling about the health of our starting RT...
