Why did Bryce decline to run?
-
As of today I completely agree. And none of these free agents are as good as DJ so we are taking a drop regardless. Everyone on the market is a 2 or worse, or some super talented underachiever like the guys in Denver.
-
No. Because it’s about the value of more than just the player. It’s about how they impact the team. DJ Moore helps settle things for Chicago in what was the worst WR room to start the year. Fields now has a legit 1, and two 2s now. For us it takes away the only know quantity at pass catcher on our roster. Our rookie QB will likely be playing ball with other young players who haven’t had any real success in the NFL yet. It feels like more of a loss for us than just losing a good WR. We are now going to have guys playing out of position pending some major moves in free agency.

For those saying you could have had Richardson at 9, what happens if somebody trades up in front of us and takes him? Then there’s no. Orr first round talents at QB in this draft. We missed. You trade up to make sure you get your guy.

Chicagos OC is good and got things figured out around mid season before injuries piled up and took away Monty, two offense lineman, Mooney and Claypool. Things are looking up in Chicago.

Which of these FA WRs would you want to go after?

I want to help out my rookie QB this year. I don’t want him going into this season knowing it’s a wasted year. -

I’ve seen rookie QBs put up good numbers out of the gate. Outside of Pitts there’s no modern TE that has. -

Note that rookie tight ends tend to not dominate the nfl in year 1. -
Just remember rookie tight ends typically don’t offer tons of production as pass catchers. Only two ever went over 1k yards in their rookie years and there is no Pitts in this class.
-
And they will need to pay the QB soon

For a dude who tends to be elite and a bad locker room guy

That’s what Burrow and Chase were hinting at. I think they’ve all been talking about what cuts would need to be made to stay together.
-
Higgins was the one other WR with more upside than DJ that could be available. However, both Chase and Burrow said this off-season that Burrow knows how to get his money while making sure there’s enough for Chase and Higgins too. I don’t see the Bengals trading him.

Ginn and Olsen are superior to anything in this current WR room. What free agent are we adding that we can afford and they want to come play with a rookie QB? What vet are we trading for where somebody else can’t offer a better package? As it stands right now this is an awful WR room. Like the Bears from this past season. I don’t think we should be trading away any more picks for WRs and I think the only ones on the free agent market are 2s now. It’s not good.

I like Justin Fields and I’ve paid attention to their moves to see if they were going to finally help him out or move on.
-
Hard to tell with the poop we’ve been running out there at QB, HC and OC…
-
I’m pretty tuned into the Bears and have been accurate on what I’ve said about not trading Fields, what their plan was for this off-season, and had the trade down to a T outside of Moore because I thought there’s no way we give him up, but I knew the didn’t want Burns… We have to see how green agency plays out but there’s a good chance they are still taking Carter at 9 if he drops. If they can sign Hargraves and Jones up the middle they can move on from that and focus on offensive line or edge. As of right now I see the Bears trading back from 9.

The Bears were never trading Justin Fields.

I’m ready for the 2.0 draft now @Verge

Confused Why Some Seem to Think We Got Fleeced
Varking replied to Daddy_Uncle's topic in Carolina Panthers
Chicagos season is going to come down to free agency on defense. They need about four new starters all in the front 7. If they pull that off they aren’t picking in the top 10 with their own pick. But there’s a good chance they are with ours. -
Are we looking to be the victims of something? This is what happens when your franchise has been around as long as us and has never even had winning back to back seasons. And we forget the good moments quickly. For weeks every time I turned on ESPN or NFL Network all I heard about was what an all star coaching staff the Carolina Panthers put together. Even now you can turn on a show and the media , when we were at 9, was talking about how we are an ideal landing spot for a young QB due to our offensive line, Moore, and our coaching staff. We don’t have tons of money right now to spend on free agents and you aren’t going to convince the best ones to come here to play with a rookie QB. Same with TE. We traded away our only good WR who has been consistent in his NFL career despite how many trash tier QBs have thrown him the ball. Draft a WR? Most non first rounders don’t put up monster stats year 1. Draft a TE? None of them put up stats outside of Kyle Pitts and there’s no Pitts in this class. We need to accept that we thought we might be a playoff team even with a rookie QB because of how bad our division is to we are probably still a middling team again. Atlanta could grab a QB and they’ll have London, Pitts and Patterson as weapons to help the kid out. Carr with Thomas , Kamara and Olave looks nice on paper. The Bucs look bad but a healthy Evans and Godwin are more than we can offer a young QB. And guess what? If we don’t surprise folks we are going to be picking in the top ten again next year…but the Bears will own our pick. So no shot at a Marvin Harrison JR. Its not a national media bias… we haven’t deserved the love. With Cam and Luke we had like 3 winning seasons in 9 years. For a QB and MLB who can take over games that’s not good enough.

He didn’t work out because he put on ten pounds of water weight to reach 200 pounds for the combine. Since it’s not his natural playing weight he didn’t want to participate in any drills because he wouldnt be as sharp. He knows if he showed up at 185 and balled out the questions about his size would still be there. But that’s why he stayed in sweats and wore shoes with four inch heels… so he wouldn’t look like kicker out there next to Levis, Stroud and Richardson. Id wager he does some of the drills at his pro day but doesn’t step on a skill to show his weight back down closer to 190.
