Albright: Panthers circling on Pickett
LinvilleGorge replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
How is this still even a question at this point? In terms of the NFL, Matt Rhule is a mouth breathing moron and he has full control over football matters for the Carolina Panthers. -

Terrifying. Absolutely terrifying. Tepper is just sitting there with his thumb up his ass while Rhule turns us into the new Cleveland Browns.- 186 replies

Panthers hint they are playing a regular season game in Munich
LinvilleGorge replied to amcoolio's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wish Tepper would just take the franchise to Munich and give the Carolinas an opportunity to start over, hopefully with someone at the helm whose head isn't lodged firmly up his ass. -

QB? OL? Pffff... amateurs! What you really need is a developmental long snapper! -
Shocked to see Kentucky on the least interested list. The Bengals should be the home team for a good chunk of Kentucky.

Whatever pick would infuriate Tepper enough to fire Rhule immediately. Maybe The Citadel's third string punter. -
McCaffery's future could be.... movies?

Seems like he's going full on stereotypical spoiled rich kid social media influencer here recently. Mr. Olivia Culpo if you will. -
Joe Brady to the Saints? Speculation about OC

Came here to say this. -
This. I'm not necessarily knocking Horn saying he was the wrong choice. QB >>>>> CB and LT >>> CB in terms of positional value.
-
We'll see. Meanwhile we passed on a rookie All-Pro LT because his arms were an inch too short.
-
Well, let's be honest... JC Horn wasn't a good decision so I'm not sure why you're hanging your hopes on that

LaCanfora asks evaluators about Pickett...

I'd rather pick another backup long snapper than Kenny Pickett. That's barely an exaggeration. -
So we wasted that 6th round pick on a long snapper.

His whole career might not be his entire rookie contract. Pickett is gonna bust hard. He's the beneficiary of an extra year due to COVID and being surrounded by an above average team in a very down ACC. He's the age of most 2nd or 3rd year pros. He's average to below average in every facet for an NFL QB. He gets rattled easily. The dude got shook by a measuring tape at the Senior Bowl for god's sake. At least with Willis you have top shelf physical talent. With Strong you have a big time arm. With Howell you have a dual threat guy who has had to carry an offense. With Corral you have a live arm and proven production against top college teams. Pickett is the guy with first round talk who has the least upside IMO. I honestly think his ceiling is good backup. Don't draft a poor man's Teddy Bridgewater in the first. Good grief. -
No. Smitty would be an awful coach and I think with age he probably has the self awareness to realize that.
-
If it's not QB or LT, we should be trading down. Given the lack of 2nd and 3rd round picks, I'd be inclined to sit and wait and listen to offers while I'm on the clock regardless of who was available. You have your allotted time. Use it.

Tepper will either have to offer record breaking money or we'll be forced to pick through the leftovers. Hell, maybe both. Word is gonna be out. This is the late stage Al Davis Raiders. If you're an up and coming or in your prime coach or player, stay the fug away. This is where you go to cash in one one last payday opportunity. -

Oh, I fully expect us to make a colossal mistake at QB this off-season. An absolute all-timer. We've made dumb decision after dumb decision at QB since Rhule was hired each being dumber and more desperate than the last. It all feels like it's setting the stage for a Herschel Walker trade level or Sean Gilbert franchise tag sign away level bombshell of a fug up this year. Will we end up trading UP to take Pickett? Don't rule anything out with this dumbass. -

Top talent evaluators of teams needing a QB: "Hey y'all, think we can get that dumbass to actually draft Kenny Pickett #6 overall?" -

It's going to take years to dig ourselves out of this Rhule hole and that's assuming Tepper actually makes a smart hire post-Rhule which is an assumption based on absolutely blind hope.- 131 replies

It wouldn't be surprising at all. Most teams go all in to build around a young franchise QB once they land one.

Not always true. Some companies really do suck in terms of pay, benefits, etc. Those companies usually also tend to have shitty bosses and the few good ones are desperately looking for something else. Then the company trots out that line to blame their people for not being able to retain workers because that's what bad places to work do - they find someone else to blame. Just like Matt Rhule.

It's almost like everyone knows Rhule should've already been fired. Everyone that is except for David Tepper.
