Whole lot of Deshaun Watson chatter happening out there
LinvilleGorge replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
This trade would probably leave us as the new Texans. An elite QB surrounded by a straight trash team. We'd see multiple 1st and 2nd round picks along with guys like Moore and Burns heading to Houston. -

Get out of that white Bronco and lace 'em up, OJ! Let's go! -

Wow. Wonder what Rae Carruth has left in the tank? I mean, if we only care about winning... -

It would be morbidly hilarious if after the league forced JR to sell for creeping on some secretaries that Tepper turns around and trades for a QB with dozens of sexual misconduct cases hanging over his head. -

It seems like it basically boils down to a he says vs. a bunch of she says. The civil cases seem like they have a lot higher chance of success than a criminal case. It's just going to be very difficult to meet the "beyond a reasonable doubt" benchmark without some evidence beyond accuser testimony. That's not victim shaming, that's just reality. It won't shock me if the prosecutor intentionally puts forth a terribly weak case to the grand jury to avoid getting an indictment and then being able to tell people and the media that "aw shucks, I tried" and move on. Prosecutors don't doggedly pursue cases they aren't very confident they can win. -

Trades for Watson have been "at the finish line" dozens of times and yet nothing has actually happened yet. -
If I was him I would. Like now. They're doing a total teardown. What does a 70 year old want with that? Unless they're planning on some addition big moves to bring in talent with all that capital they got from dealing Wilson. Watson is really the only thing that makes sense.

Oh wee mayne. Imagine trading Cam and releasing Luke in the same off-season. That's what Seahawks fans are going through right now. fug 'em, but still... yikes.
-
Damn. Would not claim that work.

James and Darnold? They'd have to rename Fanfest to INTfest.
-
Not sure if that definitely takes OT off the board at #1. They still have no long-term answer at LT and the rookie could play elsewhere on the OL next season.

No one is saying that. Why do you always argue like an emotional child? If they want to trade him for a conditional late rounder, then sure. Let's go for it. But spending significant resources on long shot vet QB options shouldn't be high on the list of any Panthers fan considering how not well that's been working out for us of late.

As they should be. This trade signals an uncertain and likely painful rebuild ahead of them. When you have an elite QB you always have a chance so there's hope that a couple key moves or a banger draft class can get you right back in the mix but that train left the building today. Now they have to find another QB just to get back to that place.

My point is that you perfectly described Rodgers's experience behind Favre. The difference is that the Packers were very confident that Rodgers would be a very successful successor to Favre and they were right. This contract screams that they're very confident that Love would not be a successful successor to Rodgers.

How does the Wilson trade, effect the Panthers draft?
LinvilleGorge replied to Admiral Ackbar's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't see it effecting much. Wilson was never coming here and it seemed like Denver was hell-bent on landing either Rodgers or Wilson. Rodgers also wasn't coming here.
