If he'd take a $5M check to go away that check would've already been written and this whole thing swept under the rug.

Nonsense. Every team needs a good developmental long snapper. Don't get suckered into the conspiracy that we need to invest in QB and OL. We're reinventing the game here in Carolina! Long snapper. That's the secret.

I'm resigning Burns and letting Reddick walk and taking that comp pick. How about a third option? Transition to a legit 3-4 scheme and keep both.

Who classified Trubisky as a physical specimen?

If we draft a QB, I want Carson Strong
LinvilleGorge replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Jones is like run of the mill immobile. Strong is like Byron Leftwich getting carried by his OL to the next LOS at Marshall immobile. -

It's pretty clear the fans who only remember a washed up old version of Big Ben. -

If this was 1986 I might agree. Strong is basically a really poor man's Drew Bledsoe. I think a statue like that gets smashed in today's NFL. -
If we draft a rookie it'll be that fraud Pickett. Take that to the bank.

Dan Morgan interviewed for Steelers GM job

Watching the actual talent get plucked from this organization has become a near annual ritual. Amazing the talent we've had here and let walk to retain fuging bums. -

Rhule, Fitts, and Tepper swinging at quality vet QBs with other good options available to them

It wouldn't be surprising at all if the losing and poor QB play was getting to him. Hell, I wouldn't blame him if he demanded a trade at some point.

As a team we were 31st, 28th, and 31st in passing TDs during DJ's career. I'll judge DJ on his ability to score TDs when we get a QB who can throw TDs.

Honestly, would anyone even remember who Jadeveon Clowney was if he hadn't hit that Michigan RB really hard that one time?
-
Clowney is the defensive version of Sam Bradford. The play never came close to the hype and the contracts.

$4.5M per year??!! Reminder: We paid Reddick $6M last year and he was signed coming off of a season where he was 5th in the NFL in sacks.

I think Tepper is still in the 'sitting amongst a pile of unused parts and screws feeling proud he assembled it far more efficiently than the engineers who designed it had intended' mindset.

Oh, I would always listen. Doesn't cost anything to listen. There might only be about four guys oin the league who I just would flat out tell teams there's nothing you could trade me to get me to move this guy unless one of these guys on this list is part of the package you're putting together for my guy. Mahomes, Josh Allen, Herbert, Burrow. Honestly, that might be it.

It's also worth asking how are the Vikings doing? Top teams can play the game of moving good players for premium picks to conserve cap space and hope to not get worse in the process. We're not there. We don't have the luxury of creating more holes on this block of swiss cheese. Especially when our biggest hole is by far the most important hole.
-
You resign good young players at premium positions. Guys like Burns and Moore at edge rusher and WR. You let guys walk at less premium positions. Guys like CMC and Shaq at RB and LB for instance. Historically, we have badly mismanaged our allocation of resources, both on terms of draft picks and cap space. You have to spend at positions of importance and fill lesser positions with veteran stop gaps and mid-round picks. I would put positional value over all else in terms of spending capital. People wanting to take a center at #6 overall are outta their minds. I might feel differently of that was the glaring weakness on a team positioned to contend but that's not our situation at all.
-
Someone would have to significantly overpay. Very few WRs would have three straight 1000 yard seasons given our QB and overall offensive situation in those three seasons. DJ is wildly underrated by this fanbase. I think he's the second best WR we've ever had. If you want to still out Moose over him I won't argue too hard against it. But at absolute worst he's 3rd. No one else is even in the conversation. I honestly wouldn't trade him for any less than two 1sts.

Good move on the surface. I'll hold off on celebrating it until we see the details. As long as we've given him a market value rotational LB/core STer type contract then good move.

Probably because they're trying to actually build a winner. Odd how we'll cut bait on QBs left and right while pretending that the guy picking and overspending on these failed QBs isn't part of the problem if not the root cause of the problem.
