So, basically it would be two 1sts, two 2nds, and two of Burns, Chinn, and Brown. Sorry, I just can't do it. I'd LOVE to have Watson but I can't do that. That's basically the equivalent of four 1sts and two 2nds.

I think they just had Cousins rated too highly to pass on him at that point. Turns out they were right. He's definitely not one of the league's best QBs but he was still a helluva value in the 4th.
-
You're not wrong. More and more spread offenses create more opportunity for the QB to use his legs.
-
We'll see. Throwing shade at Teddy at every turn and being heavily involved in QB trade talks is either heavy telegraphing or the most elaborate smokescreen in NFL history.
-
There are a lot of nice looking slot WR prospects in this draft. If we let Samuel walk we should be able to find a suitable replacement in the mid-late rounds if we so choose.
-
We've been so aggressively sending signals that we've done with Teddy that we've pretty much painted ourselves into a corner. We know we're done with him. He knows he's done here. The entire locker room knows there's zero confidence in Teddy.
-
He can't be the worst because he's definitely better than Teddy.

The NFL keeps tweaking the game to get high flying, high scoring offenses. If you don't have an elite QB, you gotta keep swinging until you land one. Any other approach is basically foregoing the opportunity for competing for titles. It's getting crazy with QBs, but the position is just THAT absurdly valuable in today's NFL.

Panthers confirmed to be in Stafford discussion

I think if he gets duped into that then the Rhule era will be a bust. The QB position is the one position you can't play the "coach 'em up" game. You need elite talent at that position. I really hope the failed Teddy experiment showed them that. -
I'd honestly rather accumulate future draft capital and go after Howell or Rattler next year. Jones just ain't it. He's likely a Goff or Cousins at best.

Keep monitoring the Watson situation, but probably the draft. Outside chance we show some interest in Trubisky, but I really think and hope we're done trying to go the mid-level vet FA route. QB is the one position where you pretty much have to have a stud. I think we go into the draft planning on being aggressive if we feel the need. -
We could get them a 3rd or something along those lines and they'd basically be getting a pick for free with us taking a QB and then them taking whoever they would've taken at #7 at #8. #7 plus next year's 3rd is what the value chart says. #7 plus this year's 3rd would give them considerably over chart value.

The Rams haven't had a 1st round pick since 2016 yet they've had four consecutive winning seasons. That's the type of consistent success a Panthers fan could only dream about.

He's better than Teddy. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not a starter in three years but he'll be in the league. Hell, look how long Bradford kept getting paid big bucks. -

If we were in that discussion, I gotta think we thought they were trying to fleece us when they told us what we had to beat from the Rams. Oh wait, y'all serious? That's what they're offering for real? -
That probably got them an additional 1st and maybe the 3rd. But Goff and a 1st for Stafford was probably legit, regardless of the contract
-
The Texans sure are smiling wide right now. If they have to move Watson, they're gonna get the biggest trade haul in NFL history.
-
A lot of y'all are overlooking that a good chunk of those draft picks were literally just to get the Lions to absorb Goff's contract. That's why a lot of us have been saying Teddy has negative trade value. We'd literally have to give up draft assets to get another team to take him off our hands.
-
I hope this takes the Lions out of the running for a QB but I'm not at all sure that it does.
-
This. Stafford is a significant upgrade over Goff and they needed out from under that contract THAT bad. With Stafford, the Rams are probably a SB contender next year And he probably has enough left in the tank to carry them through their SB window with this current core. Yeah, it's a steep price, but it makes sense for them.

That would certainly be possible.
