There hasn't been any trustworthy reports that this is the case or likely to become the case though. Most "trustworthy" rumors indicate that surprisingly the Jets are his preferred destination. There have been some whispers that he might be open to the idea of Carolina, but nothing that indicates he's ready to take a stand and try to force that move. Sounds to me like he's probably given the Texans an idea of the teams he'd like to go to or at least the teams he will refuse and he's at least somewhat open to multiple options. What could give us an advantage here is that we're an NFC team.

Where a guy was drafted is no longer relevant once they've proven what they are in the NFL. If we think Lance is the next Watson, we don't go after Watson.
-
They have to be interested in making the deal though. The Dolphins came out pretty early that they weren't gonna be involved. For better or worse, they really do seem committed to Tua. The Jets are reportedly planning on sticking with Darnold but I don't necessarily buy it.

Because two of them suck and one of them is old. Watson suffers from neither.

In '21, Jared Goff has a $37M cap hit. Matt Ryan has a $41M cap hit. Carson Wentz has a $35M cap hit. I don't think you're in tune with what good QBs make in today's NFL.

There were three elite QB prospects last year and they all went in the top 6. There are four this year and it wouldn't be at all surprising to see them go into the top 7. The Lions moving on from Stafford honestly makes it likely IMO.

If they're sitting at #8 and don't/can't trade up and Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, and Lance are all gone what are they gonna do? Reach on Mac Jones? Oh wee mayne.

I like Rhule. He seems to connect with his players. Ron did too. The difference I see between Rhule and Ron is that Rhule seems willing to learn from his mistakes, accept them, and learn from them where Ron and Hurney would double down on their mistakes with bandaid approaches instead of being willing to say, "Well, damn... we fuged up. How do we actually FIX that instead of doing our best to put lipstick in this pig?"

If they're sitting at #8 they may or may not have that young QB to get excited about. #8 might be on the outside looking in on the QB run. I think that was our plan last year too, but #7 turned out to be one pick too late. Good chance #8 ends up being that way this year too.

I think an elite QB on a rookie contract is the single most valuable asset in the NFL. That's why I think Lawrence/#1 overall would command more. You take the risk of him not planning out, but you have the huge potential reward of having an elite QB on the cheap for the next five years. That's HUGE.

No it's not. That's what most of us assumed Teddy would be for us and most of us still hated it. And that was with us parting with Cam after multiple seasons of serious injury struggles, not a 25 year old in his prime MVP caliber Cam. Texans fans would fuging riot.

I think we'd have to trade MORE than that to get up to #1. You're probably looking at 1sts and 2nds for the next three years to get the Jets to even take a moment to consider the possibility of trading that pick and Lawrence.
-
Would almost get us up to #1. Where we could almost draft a phenomenal QB prospect but at the end of the day, he's still just a prospect. Plenty of phenomenal prospects have busted or disappointed in the past and plenty more will in the future. Watson is a proven MVP caliber NFL QB. Those guys just don't become available at 25 years old. I can't ever recall it happening before. These are truly uncharted waters.

Yes. I'd hate to give up three 1sts but unloading Teddy and his contract would be a plus and getting back a couple of mid-round draft picks would help ease the blow. I'd be trying to hang onto #39 and offer our 3rd instead and trying to get that '23 4th from them up to a 3rd but at the end of the day, I'd do that deal as written. I just really don't think the Texans will have any interest in Teddy at all. Imagine trading away 25 year old Cam and then having to sell your fanbase on Teddy Bridgewater. Oh wee mayne indeed.

What are you talking about? It means he has to sign off on any trade. He can kill any trade. If he doesn't want to go somewhere, he isn't going. Period. Players don't push for no trade clause a to absolutely ensure they won't get traded. They push for them to absolutely ensure they won't end up traded to a franchise/situation that they don't want to be in.

Yeah, I don't either. The Rams are already $31M in the red for next year and Goff has them hamstrung. They also don't have a 1st round pick to offer this year. The only way this works is if there's a way for them to include Goff and his contract in the deal and for the Texans to be interested in that which they shouldn't be.

Yeah, a lot of people seem hung up on CMC being involved in the deal but honestly, I'd be more upset about Burns being in the deal. CMC is a helluva player, but elite pass rushers are more valuable than elite RBs and Burns has three more years on his rookie deal. All of that adds up to him probably having more trade value than CMC.
