Many virologists and epidemiologists predicted that this thing would become endemic as soon as it became obvious that this was going to become a global pandemic. Sure looks like that will be the case. It'll take years to get the world anywhere close to herd immunity via vaccination and while COVID doesn't mutate anywhere near as rapidly as the flu, it probably still mutates quickly enough to stay a step ahead of the vaccinations to avoid being completely eradicated.

Who/What are you watching for vs. Baltimore on Saturday?
LinvilleGorge replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hoping to see Darnold. I don't need to see much, I'd just like to see smart decisions and an ability to stretch the field. Hoping that Erving is healthy enough to go. If he struggles at LT or continues to be hampered by nagging injury, Moton to LT has to start becoming a serious consideration. Would love to see Christensen get some time with the ones against their ones. Would like to see Chuba catch a pass. Hopefully those dropsies yesterday were just welcome to the NFL jitters. -
At the end of the day though, their backup QBs who they are reportedly quite concerned about combined to go 25/36 for 310 yards albeit with 0 TDs and 1 INT. Letting bad QBs complete nearly 70% of their passes for 300+ yards doesn't provide me much confidence in our depth back there.

I think yesterday confirmed a lot of what we already knew. OL depth is bad. DL depth is strong. The WR corps has the potential to be great. Secondary depth is still a huge question mark.

That's what I saw too.

https://www.panthers.com/news/snap-counts-panthers-at-colts-in-preseason-opener?fbclid=IwAR1yjAvzMgplElVwugNB7PnCzJ4bPUCWFp5aS3Sx9_azNh8wH5gmiqK2gpk Trent Scott only played 14 snaps and yet still found a way to stick out like a sore thumb in the worst ways possible. Greg Little may actually have a shot at the 53 after that. Tecklenburg played every offensive snap. Christensen played all but three. Not sure what to make of this. I'd guess that Tecklenburg was largely out of necessity with the current injuries at center. Current injuries at OT probably also heavily contributed to Christensen's snap count but I also like to think that we might be trying to fast track him and get him as many reps as possible. Christian Miller played 68% of defensive snaps and was largely invisible. That's not good for his roster chances.

There's way too much of taking any difference in opinion as personal attack on the board right now leading to actual personal attacks. If you don't want to encounter differing opinions, then a forum that encourages open discussion might not be the best place for you. We're not going to be the football thought police around here and moderate a "Panthers positive messages" only forum. If you want to stick around but want to create your own personal echo chamber, there's an ignore function. Use it. Obviously not intended for you @Zod, just expounding on what you said.

I was impressed with Taylor Moton's interview yesterday
LinvilleGorge replied to YourLastThought's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep, seemed like a really solid dude. You can tell he's not much of one for interviews, which is fine. OL are rarely the look at me types. -
Slye is always going to be a (considerably) worse version of Gano. All the leg in the world, but you're left holding your breath and honestly expecting a miss every time he takes the field.
-
Maybe so. Seemed like he was getting virtually no chance to start but he was by far the best OT we had on the field yesterday.
-
I hope the kiddos kick it's butt and get back to normal quickly @Zod
-
I thought he looked promising, though I also think on some of those penetrations he wasn't being disciplined with his gap assignment. The runner ended up hitting the hole he'd vacated. That's coachable though.

Rhule was trying to "hold" the lead today ?
LinvilleGorge replied to JABANOG's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sounds like Rivera and Fox. Take the air out of the ball and hope your D can hang on. That's a tough row to hoe in today's offense driven league. -

LinvilleGorge replied to JABANOG's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like Rhule for the most part. I really hope he works out. But I'm not gonna pretend like the jury isn't still way out. -
I have to say… I liked what I saw out of Christensen
LinvilleGorge replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
All the tea leaves keep reading that Moton is gonna end up at LT IMO. -
Who was the best Carolina Panthers player today?
LinvilleGorge replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Robby Anderson is fast as hell. He ran 4.36. that's blazing. DJ ran 4.42. That's still very fast. We have more of a need for a physical possession type WR. -
So far so good.

Until that question is answered it's by FAR the biggest question we have. Squabbling over the backup QB seems trivial. Like worrying about your countertops and flooring while you're roof is leaking like a sieve. I'm honestly just not concerned at all about our depth until we find out if our starters can even compete. Not gonna worry too much about today's game when most of the guys we saw today won't be on the final roster. I was happy to see the rookies play well. That was the main reason for tuning in today.
-
That's the issue with Erving. He's average when healthy and recently he's rarely been healthy.
-
I'd take Will Grier over Josh Rosen. Not even joking.
-
I just think it's highly doubtful we're going to find an upgrade in August and I certainly don't want to spend anymore future draft capital trying to slap a bandaid in the current QB roster.

And here I thought the Colts were the ones denying themselves work by taking a couple of knees at the end of the game. LOL! -
So far so good.

I just think we're squabbling over the wrong thing here. We have a massive question mark at starter. That's the biggest concern until we see the answer to that question.
