Panthers trade for wide receiver Laviska Shenault
LinvilleGorge replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, we've had three straight five win seasons. We're clearly making a lot more bad decisions than good. -
@rippadonn I think you just gotta admit at this point that you're the kiss of death for a QB prospect.

Thank goodness. The last thing we need is another TMJ. -
Panthers trade for wide receiver Laviska Shenault

I don't know what happened. He looked so damn good in preseason last year, then *poof*... he just disappeared and hasn't been seen since. -

There hasn't been any Marshall hype since about this time last year. -
Man, looking like that Trey Lance trade was a BIG mistake. Looks like he's still "not ready". At this point, that probably just means he sucks.

Corral vs the rest of the rookie field
LinvilleGorge replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not surprised. I said the whole time that the only thing this QB class lacked was that slam dunk top of the class type prospect. I think everyone (NFL decision makers included) just got carried away with the mantra that this QB class was awful. I never saw it. -
Panthers trade for wide receiver Laviska Shenault
LinvilleGorge replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oof. Yeah, that's pretty steep. This crew keeps robbing Peter to pay Paul with their draft capital. I guess future draft capital doesn't really matter to you if you have to win this year to be around next year *Ah... I initially read this as we traded a 2nd for Shenault. Now I realize you were referring to TMJ. I honestly expect us to deal TMJ for whatever we can get after this move. -
Panthers trade for wide receiver Laviska Shenault

I liked him in the draft and he's a big guy who can go up and make contested catches. He kinda plays like a bigger version of D.J. Moore, especially with his YAC ability. I gotta think this clearly signals we're moving on from TMJ. -
Corral vs the rest of the rookie field
LinvilleGorge replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you're going to try to be snarky at least out some effort into it and be good at it. Go back and read the post. I wasn't even specifically referring to Howell. I was talking about Corral and his situation. -
Corral vs the rest of the rookie field

I was specifically referring to the "baller" comment and the similarities to my previous post but I didn't think that would actually require explaining. -

Well, well, well... looks there "That kid, he's a baller," Patterson said. "I've been watching Sam since college when he was at UNC. His future's bright. He just keeps doing what he's doing. I think he's going to be a problem in this league." https://www.si.com/nfl/commanders/news/washington-sam-howell-jaret-patterson-preseason-baltimore-ravens-carson-wentz -
Everywhere is. The pandemic and subsequent material shortage threw a massive monkey wrench into the supply. Ironically, now the Fed is doubling down on this supply issue with interest rate hikes. It's the only tool they have, but they're basically using a hammer when they need a screwdriver. A smart person might realize this and not pound away with that hammer but I don't think the Fed is very smart. At all.

Baker Could Be our “Brees”
LinvilleGorge replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't know that Baker is going to work out but he's the best QB option we've had since Cam's shoulder got destroyed. That's not saying much but it is what it is. -

Oh, I know. He did this exact same thing with Kyle Trask last year. -

I'm not sure who's more delusional, @rippadonn with his Corral love fest or @Iron Saint talking about Jameis being a HOFer. -
These guys have never tried to "rebuild". It's just been one knee jerk desperately try to win now decision after another.

Baker Could Be our “Brees”
LinvilleGorge replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
He did. -
We didn't have a chance. He went 8 spots ahead of Corral and we had to trade up to get Corral.
-
Well, I guess that means that a 2nd, 4th, and 6th might be able to get the deal done.
-
Yep, Maye and the freshman RBs look like the real deal. I don't want to lose Bly's recruiting abilities but these kids just don't seem to be developing under his coaching.
-
They had some fast receivers. Real talk though, it might be time to move Dre Bly into some type of special assistant/dedicated recruiter type role. He's brought in a ton of talented secondary recruits but as much as I loved him as a player he must be an awful position coach because the recruiting rankings never translate on the field. Our secondary looks completely terrible, per usual.

PFF Preseason Grades for oline and passers
LinvilleGorge replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
When they give Dennis Daley a good grade. -
Well, to be fair he did get ran down by D2 LBs. The two guys he's getting chased by in that clip rana 4.75 (#56) and a 4.67 (#41). I liked Willis as a prospect. All I said about his running was he ain't no Lamar Jackson or Michael Vick and he's not.
