With Panthers cleaning house how safe is Bryce
Jon Snow replied to Frank9999's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think the message is to not try to win. I think it's acknowledging that it is an uphill battle from the start. It's not saying playoffs or bust. It's says let's see what they are made of and who is part of the plans going forward. If you base it on last seasons results that means only a handful of players. Of course there will need to be a lot more of those types to include. But it's hard to say if there's any being overlooked because everything was complete ass with this team. There's not enough talent here or that can be added in one offseason to expect a winning season. This team is just not good enough to seriously compete. But the team will never admit that in public. It's just a given that will go unstated or unacknowledged by the team. As fans you should know this also. If not you will be severely disappointed. -

I've never seen one team get so much wrong in one offseason. I do not think anyone saw everything going so catastrophically wrong for this team the way it did. I know I didn't. I knew we weren't winning much but I never saw it being as bad as it was. -
Aim higher.

It's the best case scenario for both Bryce and the Panthers. Everything else has gone wrong, and I do mean everything. You couldn't have predicted a complete worse case scenario than what happened to this team this season. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. That just doesn't happen without complete incompetent management. -

If he improves its better for all involved. If he doesn't its only temporary pain. He will not be the starter in 2025. It's that simple. -

We've been there plenty of times before. Its where we've been stuck since about 2017 in our latest iteration of a team. But for now that's where we find ourselves once again. Well, we hope to get there next season. It's either improvement from Bryce and as a team or 2025 will be a do over in the draft. Except no trading up this time...I hope. -

Every coach that interviews will have/need a plan for Bryce Young. The critical answer will be their plan B if and when plan A doesn't work out. Which I suspect that any coach will get 2024 to figure out. I'm sure another qb will be signed off the street as another camp arm will be needed. The only real competition that may come will be for backup qb. The competition for starter will come in 2025 if that is necessary. Which based on this seasons results looks very much likely to happen. -
I totally agree. That should have been the plan from the jump. But they've been struggling to figure out if they are rebuilding or making a run. Until Dave figures that out I'm not sure what is going on. He's 5 years behind on making that decision.

I don't like this but it's only fair to interview him. I would not hire him but it's not my call.
-
Oh no doubt. But folks love to rage on about things out of their control.

Whoever signs on to try to turn this team around will have more difficulty dealing with Tepper than attempting to fix this roster. And this roster is ass. Let that sink in for a minute.

If the rumors are true he's listening to "everyone". What the search firms role in this has yet to be determined.
-
Everyone should have this mindset. There isn't a damn thing any of us can do about any of this. Getting excited or upset is fruitless. It is what it is.
-
From what is rumored it seems Dave is listening to too many people. He's collecting data like Google and doing what with it is yet to reveal itself. The only thing we can do is sit back and see what old mastermind comes up with.

The Bears FO sure did fleece ours last season. It wouldn't be a bad place to look for people to pull from.

Anyone interested in this job will come in knowing that one of their responsibilities will be to see if Young is going to be the qb of the future despite fan resistance. Prepare yourself. -

No it doesn't. Nothing about Bryce's situation changes next season. -

You're just going to have to let that go. Bryce is your qb in 2024. -

This is as plain as the nose on your face. I'm not sure why anyone doesn't understand this. Bryce is our qb until 2025 at minimum. -
He doesn't earn his salary here. I'm not a fan of paying an unearned contract to a player to prevent them from possibly earning it somewhere else. If he's not earning his current contract here there's absolutely no reason to give him a raise.
-
No, no he is not.

is there a worse destination than Carolina for a GM or HC?
Jon Snow replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
No. This is the worst situation for any professional to work in. A micromanaging boss that knows nothing about your job yet is in your office every damn day telling you what he thinks and wants done? Good luck finding someone worth a damn to sign on for that.
