Yep, he will certainly have his coaching ability tested this season.
-
It's a work in progress. Most of these new guys have never played special teams since high school. Hopefully we see significant improvement the next game. Lord knows we are going to need it.
-
Most definitely will have to hit his wr's when he can. But I fear he will not have time to do much more than getting rid of the ball as fast as he can until the oline gets sorted out.
-
Speaks to the quality of who is available this time of year.
-
I think it's more of just keeping him on a leash until their comfortable with him going "off script" so to speak. The first step is to calm him and his feet down so he can think clearly. Keep it simple for now.
-
All the starters are holding it together. It's when they start to go down and the even greener backups come in is when the trouble begins.
-
You realize the just about all of our special teams groupings is comprised of all new members right?
-
Well you have to have a fall back option during the dry spells. Cause it's not going to suck itself.
-
He will fit right in as it currently has a dose of the clap. Horn has got his work cut out for him.

Yes, due to some nfl experience, bad experiences mostly but experience nonetheless. It's going to be an uphill battle his first season here. I admire Rhule for his ballsy gamble on Darnold. Very few if any would gamble their employment on a reclamation project like this without some assurance their job was safe if it doesn't pan out.
-
That should end the matter....but it won't.
-
Damn, I thought he was let go when Rhule got here. Talk about disappearing.
-
He's not familiar with the system as far as I can tell. When was he cut the last time? I thought he'd been gone a couple of seasons at least? Hell I can't keep up anymore.
-
Why? He's not...well he just is not an improvement anywhere. I guess the depth in the secondary is worse than I thought.
-
He doesn't want to go anywhere. He's happy right where he is. He goes as Rhule goes.
-
This defense is still being somewhat dictated by the talent available and probably will be for another season or two. The lineup may differ from game to game depending on the match up of course. I don't think we've season the final iteration of this defense. Hell we may never have one preferred defense to run but can run any of them on any given Sunday.
-
It a balancing act this time of the season. If the score at the half was 28-0, which it should've been, they would had much more breathing room. It was just a sloppy first game that should've been a blowout but came uncomfortably close to being a loss.
-
I wouldn't say he's working with a full deck yet,but he has more cards than last season. The line is much better but the LB position is thin as well as the secondary. They are also raw and inexperienced. So in short they are good but still a work in progress.

Now that I have had time to digest yesterday's game some more I think the prevent D comming out so early was probably more to do with the temperature on the field. It's a longer season and a few more games before the cooler weather arrives. I saw where at one point the temperature on the field had gotten to over 120.

Those fronts were pretty much dictated by available personnel. As the talent level increases the more types of exotic fronts you can run. Has nothing to do with preference.
-
Rhule is treating him like a rookie. He looked like a rookie yesterday. That is the correct approach if you want to rewire him. Will it work? Only time will tell.
-
This^ Just don't fumble until Shi returns.
-
The protections are not allowing for much of a return. About all you can hope for is that they hold onto the ball.
-
I think you should watch the game again.
