But Cam is normal?
-
Here is a rumor I am starting: Supposedly, there could be interest in a trade between the two queen cities. Trey Hendrickson (who could be an interesting fit able to play 3 tech to 7 or 6i tech--best as a 4-3 DE, prolly) and Tee Higgins (WR) have both requested a trade. Stay tuned---could be nothing, but it could not be not nothing.

My rules (if they mattered): Don't pay a RB a second contract--pay the QB if top 5 (stealing your phrasing), and scout the hell out of the bottom of the draft. Hurney once said on WFNZ, "I focus on the first round talent and don't get too involved with the later round picks. Brandon has been doing that--it is good experience for him (paraphrasing)." I think he was making an excuse as to why his drafts were good in round 1, not so much later. However, Marty drafted players that gave him an immediate return (RB, LB, etc). In the only draft where he was on his own without a coach's input was Fox's lame duck year. 2. Clausen, 3. Lafell, Armanti Edwards, 4. Norwood....

Come back soon, Mr. Scot. I am not used to being the smartest one here. And that statement is not arrogant, unfortunately!
-
Yet they think they deserve it because the market is set. I think we are in the era where you should draft a QB every 2-3 years if not every year.
-
Yeah--Penix is better, but it all depends on Penix. The Raiders have been rumored to him. Latest rumor? The Dolphins take Penix, avoid the contract w Tua. Downfield thrower to those speedster WRs. It makes sense. Think about it--Miami trades up with Denver who moves back to 21 and they take Nix. Miami gets Penix, saves millions on the Tua contract, and The Raiders are bamboozled.
-
I think the Rams want him and they are going to be bold about it. Popcorn needs to be ready--Chicago at #9 (Rams Bears trade)?
-
If I were starting a game next week and had McCarthy and Penix on my roster--its Penix all day. McCarthy seems to be running a self-promotion add. At the beginning of all this, you and I (I think) debated whether McCarthy would be there at 33.
-
Tough one. Common sense says under but I am going with over for that reason
-
Not who you want, but who will it be at 33 (if we stay put)?

Bama ran a lot of zone, so his stock is a bit elevated, imo. I honestly believe that we are trading back if we can. I can also say that it is possible we draft CB and WR in round 2...I still think that Sandristil is a good fit--and I hated it when I heard it--but it makes sense. At WR, we should have a nice selection. Legette, Pearsall, Coleman, Wilson, Franklin, Worthy. However, do not discount the perception of our need by our GM to bring in an ALPHA ILB. There are only 2 of them, and they will be available in the second round. (Cooper, Wilson). -

Kool Aid and First Aid. -
Rumors I have not heard---Jets looking to move up? Rams? Pray for OL to last to 31!
-
So what would it take to move from 15 to 4 (Indianapolis trying to get Harrison)? 750 points after swapping first rounders this draft. Without involving players, that trade would look like: Arizona: Pick 4 Indianapolis: Picks 15, 46 and a 2025 first round selection.
-
Atlanta beat writer thinks the Falcons will be an active trader tonight. JJ McCarthy dropping? That could influence a lot.
-
While not a rumor, an interesting thought that could involve the Panthers (Think Higgins, Tee):

Not checking to see if these rumors have been reported: Giants working hard to deal with Pats

Yes!!! And the odds that we hit on 2 WRs in this draft are even smaller! Since we added Johnson and have Thielen for another season, maybe we should draft 1 that is most likely to be successful at the next level. Someone who gets away from press coverage and runs good routes that create separation. Adding Johnson was HUGE. Lombardi referenced a stat on McAfee's show that was focused on the success rate of first round WRs--I think it was 27%--the lowest. That would suggest that second round WRs succeed about 15-20% of the time---making the Panther results not abnormal.
-
If it is a player that we know we would like a 5th year option, it could be wise to do so. However, the trade would have to be with KC or SF, imo--and they would be losing the fifth year option. I do not think the odds are 20%--I would say 10%, based only on my hunches. This is the "F YOU, FITTERER!!!" Draft. Last year was the "F YOU, PANTHER FANS!!" Draft:

I think that Caleb is going to be good. After that, it depends where they go: Maye If he goes to Minnesota or the Giants, he has a better supporting staff than Daniels will in Washington. New England would not be the best situation for Maye, imo. He will be able to watch for a season in NY--possibly in Minnesota. If Daniels goes to Washington, he will be on his own, but the Commanders have a lot of draft capital. Penix is not going to do well in Vegas until they get the OL worked out. However, he can sit for a season there. I see them as a potential trading partner with Carolina: Washington picks in top 100: Round 1 (2) Round 2 (36) Round 2 (40) Round 3 (67) Round 3 (78) Round 3 (100) McCarthy is going to land in a pretty good situation. Either the Giants (where he will sit for a season) or Minnesota is better than Washington or New England.

Samuel and LaFell are washes, imo. Neither more than a decent slot or a marginal Z WR.
-
Moose and Smith are the reason we were in the Super Bowl.

I added a few comments about each that I recall or have recently read See comments above---I had to go back and read articles etc. about Colbert, Jarrett, etc.

For those of us screaming for a WR on day 2, there is this: Day 2 WRs drafted by Panthers (round) 2023: Jonathan Mingo (2) 2021: Terrace Marshall Jr. (2) 2017: Curtis Samuel (2) 2015: Devin Funchess (2) 2010: Brandon Lafell (3); Armanti Edwards (3) 2007: Dwayne Jarrett (2) 2004: Keary Colbert (2) 2001: Steve Smith (3) 1997: Muhsin Muhammad (2)
