Here is how I see it---Rhule should have been fired at the end of the season, but he was not. Nor did the owner give him any assurances or votes of confidence--a bit odd, if you ask me. If Tepper fired Rhule, the search for a new coach would have followed, and since his eye was still on Watson, he did not want to hire a coach that would cause Watson to play elsewhere--giving him the option to name a coach (within reason) in an effort to get him to waive a "no trade" position was smart. So unless Watson picks Rhule, Rhule is likely gone--if we sign Watson.

So are we saying that this is (basically) a 2-horse race? I really see both sides--not sure what I want, so I can be pretty objective--I HATE the idea of moving into 2022 with Darnold but I hate the idea of giving away half the defense and three firsts for a QB to play behind a soft OL. If this deal does not get done, it is because Rhule's reputation is poo.

But it is (reportedly) not as good as what the panthers will / offered. If they knew there was competition, the Panthers would offer top dollar---but if no other team offered, they might try an introductory offer. I think New Orleans would take the deal if accepted, but I do not think they think (based on the deals alone) they can compete with the Panther offer. They are hoping that Watson would rather go to New Orleans over Carolina and that would either cause Carolina to overpay due to the inferiority complex. My brain hurts.

Has it occurred to anyone that New Orleans is merely driving up the price with no realistic intention of getting Watson? I mean--the numbers do not add up. We should sit on the offer and refuse to get played. Brady re-signs, Tampa Bay is out. Cousins re-signs--Minnesota out. New Orleans does not want to see us get a QB---so suddenly they are in? I think it is a bluff.

Favre missed camp and then signed. He hated Camp.

I will say it again---I will take the Panthers vs. the field in an Avatar bet. I will take a bet that requires the loser to use the avatar of the winner's choice until the first preseason kickoff. (as long as it is somewhat tasteful like my current avatar). I seriously think the Panthers will pay more that three firsts, a second, and 2 established players. Not saying that is what I would do---I am saying that I smell desperation and so does Houston.

Next Man Up!...Are the Answers Already on the Roster?

I am looking forward to seeing what Henderson, Taylor can do at CB when given the chance. Did sitting a year help Pride? Don't forget, Horn will be our first rounder this year. Isn't it time to play Kenny Robinson at FS and Chinn at SS? I want to see what Deonte. Brown can do at RG. Will Tremble take another step at TE? I think they are planning on it. Can Chubba possibly become a solid part of a rotation at RB? I think we really need to see what Shi Smith and Marshall can give us at WR--even if it means trading Moore or Anderson. On the defensive side of the ball, Gross Matos needs to step up at DE. What do we have in Nixon? Play him more-especially if we trade Brown. I think Hartsfield has developed into a decent nickel. From what I can tell, most of the players I just mentioned flashed in 2021, but Rhule was too busy trying to save face he did not seem to notice. -
James Campen #1 signing this offseason, so far.

We have normalized this clown show so much that his antics aren't even shocking anymore.
