While I don't know if he can keep up his recent performances and late heroics but he was huge under pressure over and over today. He put the team on his back and decided the only way to win was to outscore them and score last. What you can't trust was the defense and Bryce took over several times needing a score to regain the lead once again. He was the difference today no question about it.

It is tough to decide who is a top 10 QB since QB rankings are dependent on so many factors. But things like good against pressure, clutch in the 4th quarter, good in the 2 minute drill, manages the game, good TD to Int ratio, etc. tell you more than simple stats like completion percentage or passing yards per game and the like. What I know about Bryce is he is tough and gritty and gives it his all. And he is mentally tough as steel. Will he be the franchise guy. I hope so given what we have invested and his character and resilience. He is the kind if guy you can build around.

But the draft is the best place to get expensive pieces like DEs, left OTs, QBs and top notch middle linebackers. So to have your starting and backup QBs both on rookie contracts would free up a ton of money for free agents to plug in holes. Expand your point of view.....

He wasn't my first pick but his resurrection was amazing and unexpected. To score 44 points against a team fighting for their playoff lives with a bunch of backups was far from promising. It was the best quarterback play by a Panther QB in several years. And to beat the dirty birds at their home in overtime with a walkout TD is the stuff of panther legends. Bryce put the team on his shoulders and decided if we keep scoring we can't lose. I am still on board to draft a QB if a great one is there but Bryce had one of the best QB days from a scoring production point of view as any in franchise history.

The scheme is inconsistent and ineffective. It doesn't matter who is out there. We sucked when we started the year and haven't improved much in points surrendered which is the only defensive Stat that matters. We give up more points in the last 2 minutes of either half than anyone else. That has to be scheme. I want an aggressive attacking defense whether it be 3-4 or 4-3 or some hybrid. Evero's weak zone bend until you break drives me crazy. I for one won't miss him if he goes.

Spot on. When you hire a head coach with zero head coach experience you have to expect issues along the way. He never called plays and head coached before at the same time. It is a learning curve. His job was to fix Bryce and the offense. Both very much works in progress.

Seems we use who is healthy doing what they can do. Sanders has been hurt and Tremble has missed time as well. Which one besides Sanders resembles a receiver? I doubt Canales avoids using the tightends so much as they rarely win their matchups and too often drop the ball. Isn't hard to see why they aren't targeted while a guy like Thielen will be on third down. Adam is open and makes ridiculous catches.

Yeah we surely suck and our scheme is too passive to me. I want a DC who likes to blitz, create pressure and use more man press coverage. I think that scheme helps hide weaknesses instead of magnify them with our lack of pressure and bend until you break prevent zone.

Need.to be an asterisk for all records with a 17 game season versus the old 16. For historical comparisons use the current number as that is 16 games and apples to apples. Just sayin...

Talking about preserving our draft position with competitive losses is what you do after you lose to feel better. But spoiling Arizona at our house felt great. And beating the Bucs and Falcons in their house would be worth dropping a few draft positions.

Actually blitzing and sending 5 guys through the gaps is what you do when you want to hide deficits and have backups playing key roles. You don't send 4 and sit back in a prevent zone like we do. We give up more points in the last 2 minutes of a half than any team in the league. That is scheme not personnel. I want a Baltimore style scheme if we keep playing a 3-4.

People looking at the offense negatively need to step back a minute and remember that expectations were mighty low this year. We have a lot of young guys and rookies. And our qb is a newby in the system he is in with a new coach who has never been a head coach and signal caller combined. This is a work in progress so only an approach which recognizes incremental improvement is valid for best measuring where we are versus demanding immediate success after a 2-15 campaign last year.

Let's be real, with proper training you can increase lateral speed, strength and balance so it isn't physical inability. His measurables were pretty good I recall. It is likely mental which can improve with repetition and practice. Truth is he might be another one who needs to do some pine time to observe and learn by watching instead of doing. Might make him hungrier to excel.

Given he is on his rookie contract and this year he has a new line coach, let's see how he progresses. At the cost of left tackles these days, he is worth more to keep him versus trading him away.

Passing yards alone says more about the offense than the QB if for example a team runs a lot versus a team that relies almost totally on the pass. Stats like TD to Int ratio, average yards per completion, 2 min drill efficiency, passer rating when behind or ahead, etc tell me how he takes care of the ball and handles pressure which is the most important element to me bar none. I think the jury may be still out which is why I still want a QB in the draft in the first 3 rounds, but Young is battling and deserve more time to develop. Isn't the rule to wait at least 3 years before deciding their value. Darnold took a lot longer but look at him in the right offense

A 3-4 can be very effective if you have the linebackers to run it. We clearly don't. Then again we don't the linebackers for a 4-3. And our defensive linemen as a whole are jags minus those who are injured and unavailable. But Evero's zone defense needs pressure to work and we don't generate it. So Qbs sit back and have all day to wait for their guys to clear coverage. I want a blitz happy pressure defense like Baltimore that dictates to the offense instead of our bend until you break zone shell of a defense under Evero. Honestly I won't be unhappy to see him go.

I would be drafting a qb this draft because the rookie draft is much cheaper than bringing in a good vet and we could have our starter and backup both on rookie contracts. We could also develop both and trade one away for more draft picks. Canales has shown he has some ability to develop qbs so why not give him the talent he needs. The QB position is the most expensive to retain so having cheaper options through the draft seems a good idea.

It makes sense to draft a qb high next draft given how important the position is and how expensive it is to retain them after their rookie contract. Bryce can compete and help mentor a rookie who will try to take his job. It won't be a wasted pick as we will have our starter and backup both on rookie contracts. We also have the option

So stats matter when we talk offense and how Young is not that great but the defense is great even though the stats are terrible. We are 31st in yards surrendered at 384 yards and 32 in touchdowns allowed at 44. We have given up the most points in the NFL in the last 2 minutes of a half meaning we aren't clutch. . We are 12th in passing defense and 32nd in rush defense. We are 32nd in points allowed at almost 30 points a game. We are 26th in red zone defense. I can't see anything that suggests our defense is anything but bottom five if you actually look at the numbers. Yes we have had our share of injuries and that matters but let's be real. Evero's zone defense needs pressure on the qb to work and until the last few weeks it was nonexistent. And that soft prevent defense he uses on third down and in the 2 minute defense is a joke. Truth is I would be fine moving on from Evero and finding something with a more aggressive scheme.

We don't have to worry about picking up a 5th year option for another 2 years let alone an extension. Unless he is amazing we won't be extending early. No urgency at all. Mahomes didn't even play until year 2 and Love sat the bench for years.

With Legette dropping everything he was a big drive killer. And remember that running from the hurry up can break plays as they expect you to pass.

Look at the Eagles they were blitzing a lot but it makes you play zone behind it which plays to Bryces strengths. As I said the advantages are the defense will have difficulty dialing up exotic blitzes or stunts. So even if they bring pressure it will be manageable. Second, they can't substitute defenders situational and you can catch them off guard. Now the qb has to be somewhat elusive and receivers have to be good at the scramble drill. But as long as you don't go constantly 3 and out which gives the defense no rest, it can be a good change of pace to ride momentum.

Exactly. Why not take advantage of that. They also can't substitute as easily.

Maybe it is just me but Bryce seems to flourish in the 2 min hurry up offense. What if we ran a hurry up offense more often. I know Canales likes the run heavy possession offense and there is nothing wrong with that but is it the best use of Bryce?
