If you've got 5 WRs you want to take at 33 and then you've got one specific guy like Payton that you're hoping or feel like he should be there at 39...you take Payton at 33 and pick your best WR at 39.

I think we have different opinions about what a major question mark is. I'll just say that I wouldn't have an issue taking any of the top 12-15 WRs. Any other year most of these guys would be going a round or two earlier than where they are predicted to go. Maybe you're looking for the perfect WR that doesn't have anything to work on or who has never been injured. I just expect all of them to be rookies who have a lot to learn and prove. But I'll be happy to take any of these guys and if we have to take one or two that have some areas that could be considered worrisome, so be it. It's all a gamble. They're all a gamble. But you're guaranteed not to win if you don't take risks on uncertainty.

Matt Miller: 1st round could have 8 WR’s
rayzor replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not saying it's going to happen or to expect it even, but be ready for it and also be ready for 1) someone to fall that wasn't expected that we can get and take advantage of and 2) us to draft a WR earlier than what most mock/draftnik boards had them at. Doing that doesn't mean failure, btw. Drafts don't necessarily abide by the boards of mockers and draftniks. The draft is or can be a very unpredictable beast and you're going to have to be able to ditch your plan and adapt/react on a dime.- 48 replies

Your thoughts on my random draft crushes
rayzor replied to yasuhara2241's topic in Carolina Panthers
There aren't many WRs in this class that I wouldn't be tickled at getting. I have favorites, but I don't have any that I hate. -
no, because he's already got guys like Kuechly pushing for him. I think if there's one thing that Keek and Morgan know, it's LBs and if they are both sold...if Morgan is sold enough on him that he thinks he's worth that pick i'm excited. i've been thinking a lot of times defense or OC with that first pick anyways and then coming back around and doubling up on WRs after that so it wouldn't throw that plan off much at all.

and say no to bo...or really any QB this year. do what we can to give BY every opportunity for success or at least substantial improvement. if it's not there, then we try again next year. but at least it couldn't be said that we didn't even try or give it a full effort. we invested that much into him...we have to give it a real honest go with a real team around him and a non-dysfunctional coaching staff.

we turned shuffling chairs on the titanic into an artform.

i know people might be shocked to see me say this, but i'm kind of the same way.

Did you say something? Sorry, i zoned out.
-
No kidding. I mean we might need it.

Ok....haven't used the NFL mock Database sim much in a while. This was kind of ridiculous. We wind up collecting in the 2025 draft Colts round 7 Bucs round 3, 7 Bengals round 5 Jags round 5 Eagles round 7 pick 250 Titans round 3, 4, 7 Pats round 1, 4 Chiefs round 2,5,7,7 Cards round 2,4,7

I keep on saying that i'll be excited if we draft any of about a dozen WRs...preferably 2. But i've got to admit that there's a couple i like i really hope are around for us to have as an option. We don't HAVE to draft him, but I at least want him to be available. and i don't want him or really anyone good to go to the chiefs. they've had enough rings for a decade.

this is probably my favorite break downs of the WR class. Brett Kollman always does a good job, imo.

Donnelly on Hayden Hurst and a comment he made about the Panthers

Frame it however you want to fit your lovely narrative. -
Major flaws? Lol just a bit dramatic

But there's more comps to DK Metcalf, AJ Brown, Deebo, and I even saw one to David Boston. Daniel Kelly had a really interesting writeup on him. https://firstroundmock.com/2024/02/xavier-legette-reminds-former-nfl-scout-of-these-legends/ Lots of ringing endorsements all over the place. People don't know what to expect, but from watching him last year they get a good sense of what he can be, and it's pretty stinking good

Bill's Diggs to Houston for 2025 2nd rounder
rayzor replied to thunderraiden's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is a move you make if you believe you've got a really small window and you're not looking long term. Just a weird move. Maybe they just got lucky last year. -
This would be the most fun draft weekend ever.
-
It's pretty predictable after a while. I know how to time it to get guys I want while changing a little direction now and then.
-
Yep. Throw as many as we can out there and see what/who works

3rd round, run to the podium with the card Pick 39....maybe, depends on if we got a stud WR before. Pick 33....

Steelers can pick receivers, right? Food for thought.

I'll just keep saying it... Legette ≠ Mingo Mingo never had a year like Legette had last year. I think what was seen from Mingo his last year in college is probably a good indicator of his ceiling in the pros. i feel the same is true for Legette his last year. I know that's not usually a reliable indicator, but what Legette was able to do once the opportunity for him finally presented itself and the number of ways he was used and has been used really shows what he is capable of and it's a lot more than Mingo. I'm not giving up on Mingo, but i don't believe he will ever have the success that Legette will have wherever he goes. -
he's a tough sell for me. the only thing he does incredibly well (compared to the other guys we are looking at) is run fast and a lot of the reason he does is because he's only about 80lbs dripping wet. seriously he's 5'11 and weights 165 lbs. of course he's going to be fast. i don't know that he gets more separation than some of the others and he definitely isn't going to be able to muscle down the contested catches. straight line speed is good, but not sure if it's the best fit for the QB we've got. Just some other WRs that i think bring more to the table. that said, if he's the pick...

my thoughts. if, for example, the pats miss out on a first round QB and they come knocking you'd better listen.
