Yeah....I see stuff and it makes me think this guy could be legit, but I've had my hopes up before. I've never been excited about him before and I don't want to let myself get excited just because he's a panther now. I've tried convincing myself in the past that maybe we've stumbled on something good, but it never pans out (not talking Cam because I knew he was legit when I saw him play the Iron Bowl in college...I didn't have to convince myself of anything watching him play. He did it for me.). I just have to see it. I won't believe it until he gives me something as a panther to believe in.

what watson should have done right away.

Vikings Wire writer taking potshots at Panthers
rayzor replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
would rather not have any of them -
But it will be different here because ....
-
the first three are the easiest. from there it's just a meat grinder...i mean with the exception of the falcons but i think we'll probably split with them.
-
not seeing that many wins with or without CMC. he bumps us up to maybe 6 wins. the schedule is brutal and we still probably have rhule managing the games.
-
I would like a true competition, but it's baker's job to lose
-
You said it and you're thinking the right direction. Corrall is the guy.

Baker Mayfield and Scott Fitterer presser today at noon.

so are they saying anything? can't watch. -
(not yet)

i'm not in the slightest worried about Corrall's mental toughness or it being challenged. he faced his issues head on, early on, and got a handle on it. like @top dawgsaid, he seems to be in a good place and he was a kid drinking and partying too much...that doesn't mean he was an alcoholic but it does mean he thinks it was enough to potentially be a problem/distraction that could interfere with football and he had the maturity to make the choice to get that part of his life under control before it got out of control. it takes maturity to get your life under control and get your priorities straight. that's what he did. more than that, it appears that he uses what he learned to help out teammates who might have similar issues. i think both baker and darnold have issues they haven't been able to deal with or grow from/grow out of. i don't know what darnold needs (maybe a psychic lol), but darnold just seems to be one of those guys who wants the respect of a grownup but keeps getting sucked back into teen issues/drama...a lot of petty stuff.

Calling it right now, the rookie is gonna be the most mature of the bunch.
-
the stud 4x first team all-pro punter we managed to snag off FA this year.
-
nice, but the writer is a OU homer.

This is basically the whole reason I'm not all that optimistic. With the exception of QB, some big improvements were made in necessary places (not at all sold on Baker). But as long as that guy has control my optimism has the mute button pressed. Still more inclined to watch this year than i thought I would be.
-
I'm tired of my annual positivity and optimism being crushed by a team that can't get their poo together and keeps coming up with new ways to lose led by the same asshat brain trust it's been led by for the past couple years. Until 1) we start winning without stalling out after a few games and wings up in the playoffs or 2) we have a change in leadership.....i'm not buying it. I've played that game too many times and I'm done. Is this a better team or just more of the same poo? Until I see results I'm not going to fall for it. It's a deep playoff run or a coaching change that will get me feeling good again. Right now I'm more curious how the non-rhile changes affect the team, impact of experienced coaches and an upgraded OL. Until I see otherwise, Baker is just this year's model of teddy and sammy.
-
My default just because I've what I've seen here for years now is to kurb any enthusiasm I'm used to them sucking and me getting disappointed in them. Then they, for the third year in a row, the third year of rhule, get some reclamation project with "upside and potential" for a QB. I just don't believe in anything this team does. I hope they do well, but I'm done believing in them. I want to see them do something different.

it's a stretch to put him on the level of greatness with any of those guys. sometimes a baby is just a baby.
-
his performance was top tier...so it made him worth it. can the same be said for mayfield?
-
it just seems like he has issues with lots of people. coaches and players. it just happens too often, going back to his time with texas tech. he was whining about what was(n't) going on with Kingsberry there and he just left for OK. when you have problems with that many people...it might not be the other person's fault.
