Possible Round 2 and 3 picks

Corner has always been one of our top 3 needs, and we have to defend Vincent Jackson and Mike Evens, Marques Colston and Brandin Cooks, and Julio Jones sand Roddy white in 6 games this year. Woah. DB is arguably more of a need now with the upgrades in the NFC south, and ther's a lot of young talent to help our pass defense.

Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska: Hog mollie at corner? Plays every bit of his 6'3 frame, a big, physical, Corner that was a former WR. Sound familiar? Well it is a copy cat league after all. Jean-Baptiste has shown the ability to play cover 2, so he'd fit right in, and he'd be a play maker with WR like hands.That being said, he'll be 24 years old his rookie season, and he's a bit stiff sometimes, but his measurables are way too interesting to pass up if he's at 60.

 

Keith McGill, CB, Utah: Another big, tall CB. At 6'3. 211  he's surprisingly fluid. Good  hips, can turn and run and is very solid in zone. Though he'll be older than Jean-Baptiste at 25 years old this year, he's a bit more of a polished product. He also has some experience at saftey, as we;l.

 

Marcus Roberson, CB, Florida: Though it's been a rough Predraft for the Florida DBs, Roberson remains a solid option. More of a man guy at Florida, but he has the ability to play in other schemes. Strong enough to stay with the bigger WRs, and fast enough to keep up with the speedy ones, he's a very, very solid cover corner. He also his some return ability. His run support, or lack thereof, and his injury history raises some red flags.

 

Pierre Desir, CB, Lindenwood: A fan favorite and a small school hero, Pierre Desir is an amazing ball hawk. He'd fit our scheme perfectly and could make somegame changing plays like our former CB, Captain Munnerlyn,. He has good size at 6'1, and despite coming from a small school, played very well at the senior bowl. He doesn't always play to his size, and he's a bit on the slow side, but he would definitely be a great pick in round 3.

 

Lamarcus Joyner, CB/S, Florida State: We already have the biggest play maker from FSU, why not the smallest? Joyner would be a top 10-15 pick if he were  or 5 inches taller, and at 5'8 his height his a huge concern, but his ball skills and instincts are amazing. He hits hard, makes big plays and can compete with most anyone. If you can get over his height, we'll have a very solid DB who can play corner and safety.

OT

 

With Jordan Gross retiring, we have a huge hole at OT. It's pretty much a forgone conclusion that come September, Bell will be starting at LT, and how that will go, no one knows. That being said, we need an upgrade at RT (And LT but that probably won't be for another year), and thre's a handful of solid prospects who could start there we can nab in Day 2.

Joel Bitonio, G/OT, Nevada: I haven't heard a lot about this kid until, like, right before the draft, but, he seems like a very solid run blocker and pass protector with a bit of a mean streak. Hard worker, plays hard, and athlethic. Big downside he's a bit undersized to play OT and might be more suited for G in the pros.

 

Cyrus Kouandjio, OT, Alabama: It's been well noted how I'm not a big fan of Kouandjio, but if he's there in the second, or even third, well, I won't complain. He's the definition of a hog mollie at 6'7, 322. He's had some dominant games as a rub and pass blocker, though he's shown a weakness to speed rusher. The biggest concern, though, is the longevity of his knee.  

 

Billy Turner, OT, North Dakota State: If we draft turner, it's safe to say we'll have the most small school prospects on any OL in the NFL. With that said, I think Turner is an amazing prospect. He's big, strong and light on his feet. I think with the right coaching, he can be an elite RT, and maybe eve LT. That being said his level of competition is a big concern, and he plays a bit high, but in round 3 I think he'd be a perfect fit in Carolina. 

 

Brandon Thomas, OT/G, Clemson: Thomas was a fringe first rounder we liked a LOT before he tore hi ACL, his talent, arm length and big hands still gives him a huge chance to be a fringe late day 2 pick. Very good pass protector and is light on his feet. A it undersized at 6'3, but his long arms make up for that. A big red flag is this is his second ACL tear, but in round 3 it might be worth the risk to take this guy.

 

Antonio Richardson, OT, Tennessee: My personal favorite OT remaining. "Tiny" was a very good pass protector and solid run blocker he was just...inconsistent. If the right coach can coach him up, he's one of the best LTs in the draft. Strong enough to handle power rushers and aile enough to handle speed rushers. He has all the tools to be an elite LT, just has to put it together. I'd take him in round 2, but there's a chance he's there in round 3.

WR

 

We've already drafted Kelvin Benjamin to help our abysmal WR core, but that's just a small step forward. Last year, we double dipped at DT with Star and Short, shocking many, and many have expected the same this year. With this being said to be the deepest WR class in years, we have plenty of strong options to pick from if we do get another WR for Cammy Cam.

Cody Latimer, WR, Indiana: Latimer is a guy Carolina seemed to like a lot. He's big at 6'2 and ran a solild 40 in the 4.40 area. He has good body control and catches everything thrown at him. He can be a little stiff but his route running is very solid. it might not be very likely he's there at 60 but if he is I think we'll ****** him up.

 

Allen Robinson, WR, Penn State: Robison is another big bodied, strong wide receiver. Very good, very good after the catch and has a very good vertical. He reminds me a lot of Hakeem Nicks, using his size and physicality to get open deep. He doesn't have a lot of deep speed and catches with his body a lot, but these are things you can coach. Panthers have shown interest in Robinson, so if he's there at 60, there's a strong chance we'll take him.

 

Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State: Adams is probably the most put together WR in this draft. Jack of all trades, master of none. Which isn't a bad thing, he has a chance to impact this years Keenan Allen. He catches the ball anywhere on the field. and can do it all, screens, deep balls, over the middle. He's not a burner, he's more quick than fast, and his level of competition comes into question, but he is a very smart, dedicated young man and can line up at 2 or 3 right away. Like the other two prospects, we've shown a lot of interest in him.

 

Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt: Another big wide receiver, there's a lot to like about Matthews. He constantly played well in the SEC, he's a hard worker and a film rat, hes' 6'3 and ran a high 4.4 40, can sometimes make people miss. He'd be great to line up cross from Benjamin as two, big, physical WRs. He's got some maturing to do, but who doesn't at this point. He can be had in the 2nd, possibly even the rd.

 

Paul Richardson, WR, Colorado: There's not a pure speed guys left after Cooks and Lee. Richardson is one of the few remaining. 6'1 and very fluid, he gets in and out of his breaks very well. He produced constantly despite having a poor supporting cast and can repalce Ginn as our deep threat. He's very light though, and physical corners can jam him easily, but if he bulks up and gets stronger, he'll be a solid compliment to Benjamin. We can probably pick him in the third.

Other Possible Positions

 

HB: We owe DWill and Jstew a lot of money, and I'm not sure if either one of them can be a June 1st cut, but we can still upgrade the position. Jeremy Hill, Carlos Hyde, Bishop Sankey,  Ka'Deem Carey, Lache Seastrunk and Dri Archer are all possibilities. 

 

TE: Cam operated really well in two TE set in 2011 when we had Olsen and Shockey. We signed Dickson, but it's unlikely he's the long term answer.  Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Jace Amaro, and Troy Niklas are options to upgrade the TE position. 

 

DE: It's very unlikely we'll keep both CJ and Hardy coming up, and even if we do, you can never have enough pass rushers. Kony Ealy,  Jeremiah Attaochu,  Kareem Martin, Jackson Jeffcoat, and Demarcus Lawrence are all Pass Rushers we could take.

Good effort. Herron is possible in late 3rd too IMHO. Any normal year he's a second rounder.
