Spring Break Miami 2015

Try www.skyscanner.com. You can fly roundtrip for about $500 per person from CLT directly to Key West. Probably cheaper on weekdays. You can fly into Miami for about $250, but then you'll have to rent a car to drive down to KW, and then pay for parking, for a car you probably won't use the entire time, so in my experience, it's worth just ponying up the extra cash to fly direct.

Mexico is more expensive to get to, but they have some really sweet all-inclusive deals that you won't find in Key West.

Great!!! Thanks .

I have seen some $500-$600 flights and was hoping there might be a cheaper alternative.

I have actually found that flying out of Charlotte on Air Mexico on a Saturday is extremely cheap. Package it with an all inclusive stay and it's about $300 for a roundtrip non stop flight into Cancun. We went last year but was thinking about going to Key West instead this year.

Something to consider would be flying into MIA, renting a convertible for $150 and driving down to the Key West airport and catching a cab to your hotel. The drive is beautiful, and if you don't care about what kind of car you're driving, you can probably get an economy car for about $70.

I love Key West. Sometime when you plan a trip with a bigger budget, take a look at St. John, USVI, and look for a rental on the East End. It's what I imagine Key West strives to be. All the bars are like something out of a movie, with all sorts of characters, millionaires and billionaires living like beach bums with no pretentions, and the alcohol is the cheapest thing on the island. My wife and I got married there and it was amazing. I would say about 40% of the people we met on the 'locals' side of the island split time between there and Asheville. It was very laid back, fun atmosphere. We're planning on a return trip for our 5-year anniversary.

That sounds like a great trip. You have a link to a site that you use for St John / USVI or do you go through an agent?

Not to hijack the thread but do you just fly out of Charlotte and go right into Key West or is there a cheaper place around here to fly out of? Basically, what is the best airline and location to use. Planning an early July trip and debating between KW and Mexico. I totally agree with not wanting to drive anywhere after a 4 day bender.

I usually fly USAir out of Charlotte directly to KW. In the flights are season so you can't get them year round. Luckily the times I've gone they've always flown there.

After three 16 hour drinking days in KW it takes about a solid week and a half to be back to 100% for me.

That's where I was about to start my search.

Thanks again!

No problem! If you decide to do a trip to St. John, let me know and I'll do my best to answer any questions I can. We have neighbors that run a B&B there, so I can get pretty current info.
