2014 Game by Game Analysis

Recommended Posts

This is a pre-preseason, pre-training camp analysis. predictions will most likely change when i revise this after preseason. also, it is LONG. please dont comment TL;DR because you have been forewarned! haha. I spent a total of 8 hours on this doing some in-depth research on each team the Panthers play and the circumstances around each match-up. Bear in mind that i didnt take some bird's-eye view of the season and slap together some predictions. I approached each game like i was in that week with that week's knowledge. Also know that this is my first season analysis and i am inexperienced. if i didnt think of something, just let me know. but please be gentle! haha enjoy and thanks for reading!

Well done bro good read. If the team can get the best record in their history while most pundits are shitting on them for losing a good LT and a bunch of jag receivers, well that'd be just fine with me.

Thanks Montsta! did you catch my mistake mid-article? lol

there is no way the panthers are going 13-3 between having to face the tough nosed teams of the afc north, the rest of the division which has all improved, going to lambeau to play the best QB in the league, not to mention teams like chicago and detroit having a poo ton of receivers and good OLs to beat our defense. and the eagles are incredibly fast while our defense had problems with speed last season.

i'm thinking 9-7

I like it! I think its a little optimistic though. I cant support using last years close game as a reason to give us a win againts seattle, i also dont think we are gonna sweep tampa. I think 11-5 or 10-6 is a little more likely

13-3?

That would have a decent chance of making us the best team in football and probably assure us as one of the top 3 in the league.

Bring it on but I ain't putting money on that.

10-6 make sense for me

that bit about Seattle was more from a fan's perspective. but truthfully, i do think the Panthers will match up well against Seattle this season. What makes you think we wont sweep Tampa? i think we win in week 1 and they arent good enough yet to challenge us in our house.

yes perhaps i was optimistic. i wont deny that. but i truly believe the Panthers can still challenge all the opposition they'll face this year. there is no team in 2014 that the Panthers cant gameplan against and beat with the talent on Carolina's roster

You are looking at the trees and missing the forest. 13-3 is reserved for elite teams or really flukey years. If you have watched football for the past 20 years it is really really hard for any team - even the dynasties - to go 13-3. I'm guessing an average of 1-2 a year

I think you need to add in the amount of parity in the league as well as the variance. We will lose to a bad team and we will lose to the NFC South at some point. And yeah we may not sweep Tampa.

that "bad" team we lose to will probably be Chicago or Cleveland, if it happens.

i will consider the match-ups with Tampa more carefully after the preseason since consensus is pointing out my faulty logic there. i said i would consider the input. :)

HP, what is your overall prediction for the Saints? 12-4 like i have it?

Great Question.

I'll go with Saints 10-6 but I will do a full prediction for the NFCS in a month

    • Winning games and be a +500 team are good. But the goal is to win Super Bowl.  Chiefs had Alex Smith, went to playoff twice and still replaced him.   BY as of now: - To many fumbles - Completion in the intermediate range is just far below acceptable - Not enough of a deep throw threat....   The stats you try use is deceiving.  Catchable......  That is an opinion. Show me the completion %. And also, how does BY compare to other QBs using the stats you cited. Oh... ranked at 27
    • Your intelligence is artificial.
    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
