Need help picking a jersey

Recommended Posts

One that will have a good chance of being evergreen. Here's what I am looking for:

-Panther player that has a good chance of not making me regret it, can be current but preferably former player

-Is considered a true panther. It helps if they spent their whole career here but there are exceptions like Sam Mills (I have his already)

-Was consistently pretty good, not a one year wonder. Doesn't have to be All-pro amazing obviously. Some fan favorites like Rod Smart are okay as well, but being good is better.

-Isn't played out. Newton, Smith, Delhomme are a dime a dozen.

I'll pick the one that falls under most of these categories.

Newton played out? wtf? Why would you not want a jersey of the Panthers franchise QB?

For me, I would want someone young and good. That way I know they stick around longer. I already have a blue Newton and black Kuechly. I want a white jersey next. Either Benjamin next offseason, if he does good and doesn't change his number, or Star, if he continues to be great.

So... to sum up:

You want a jersey of a former player that was consistently good for the Panthers without all of the hype?

In that case I might go Brad Hoover or Mike Minter

Mike Rucker

Buckner

Chris Harris

Pat Terrell

Kragen

Lathon

Bates

Kasay

Willie Green

Mark Carrier

No denying those guys either but I guess I was choosing the top 2 I felt fit the criteria he was looking for.

A lot of those players didn't start or end their careers with the Panthers. Rucker is a guy I would definitely put into the mix though.

What was the deal with Lathon's assault charges? Anything come of that? I forgot to mention "stayed out of trouble".

I strongly considered getting Rucker since he's commentated for us and has the Ruckus house.

    • Ugh. Very sorry to hear that. Thinking of his young family.
    • D.Brown has almost single handedly solved the run defense problem.  He’s that friggin good.  So glad to have him back.
    • The way your fan brain thinks isn’t the way an NFL coaches brain thinks.. It’s not Madden. I get that some fans want to see BY sling the ball around in a blowout, but the HC job is to call plays to win the game in a responsible manner. What coach would stop running the ball when they are having consistent success only to pass the ball when you already have a large lead? Who would take Canales seriously in the locker room? Who would take him seriously around the league if he did that? The coaching staff get to see BY at practice everyday and have 2 years of tape. It’s week 3. There’s still a lot of more ball to be played. Enjoy the ride.
