Do I have to list Steve Smith quarterbacks he's played with?

Jake Delhomme made 89 one of the most heavily targeted WRs in the NFL for years and years.....

and 89 didn't make Delhomme as the 2004 season showed.

be allsome to see what steve would have been with a elite QB throwing to him and NOT in a run, run, draw, punt system. you could easily see his numbers would be around 25% greater.

ive been thinking of whom is better at fox ball, ron or john??? been meaning to make a poll too, maybe someone else will.

its close either way, great points on both sides. if smitty was still a panther and ALL this bad stuff had not come out, he'd be the guy. but what pampers did half-@ss could be in the same vein of poison that steve did to his teammates. many pro/con on each sides.

I'm waiting on somebody should me what Peppers done in the playoffs

Where it matters most

2003 and 2005.....were both defensive beasts. Defense and Pep were strong.

Yes 89 shined in those postseasons. Those 2 postseasons are the brightest spot on his resume.

90 is still closer to the HOF though

time for this user to come out of retirement:

e: lol

yeah that's what happened right

His response to this was an article written in 2011. I'm just curious, do the best defensive players in the league usually get cut from a team that has a bad defense?

Could easily argue on a better teams he gets less targets.....and it all evens out

Fox benefited from much better OLs than Ron IMO

Peppers is a freak of nature especially in his early days compared to the competition. Of course he shined in the regular season. But when it mattered most, you can't post a playoff dominant game or domimant performance. poo you cant even give me really one great one. Just maybe, one good one and that's including the Bears postseason

Smith on the other hand total opposite of freak nature, smaller than your average WR size not only did that in the reg season but seemed to elevate his game in the playoffs, where it matters most. 34 years old on one leg and he still outplayed every one on offense our last playoff game

Go ouside carolinas and mention Panthers, I'll give you 20 dollars when Peppers is mentioned before Steve and its cause he been putting in WORK

do you know what %s run.pass where during the delhomme years?

jake did lock on to smitty, why not he was feeding the stud. i still believe it could have been more. if smitty started in the west coast system with andy reid calling the plays....... he'd be on a jerry rice pace..... nearly.  plus he has taken care of his body, it would have been fun to see.

Still....regardless of our running philosophy....89 was one of the top targeted WRs in the NFL with Delhomme.

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
