Comparison of Panthers WR Spending

Recommended Posts

Every team has their own philosophy on what they want, and usually try and plan for that. You cannot lump every team into just one category.

Your best players will be paid more. It really is just that simple.

If your best player is a CB, he will be paid the most. If your best player is a MLB, he will be the highest paid. It is not a positional thing. It is a talent thing.

Your best talent will be paid the most. No matter what the position.

Pretty much.

John Fox wasn't big on the idea of 'franchise' quarterbacks (ironic, huh?) but Ron Rivera is.

Yupperz. Fox, and coaches like him, would let harpo play QB if he could hand the ball off, and throw a few passes, without turning the ball over.

That my friend, is 'Old School".

It can be effective with the right players (Jake Delhomme was actually the wrong kind of quarterback for what Fox wanted to do; that's a whole other discussion though) but I prefer the approach we have now.

As a side note, John Fox coaching Peyton Manning is like a fry cook teaching at a Culinary Arts Institute.

Part of me would like to know how Foxy really feels about his QB now. All those passes have to tear him apart. Turnovers just eat at him. And every pass has a chance for two things to go wrong.

I like our balance. If our O-line can get it together, it can be effective. Especially with a QB like Cam. I like what we are trying to do. Now we just have to get more consistent with it.

See in this picture. Is a band with a $10 front man and a $5 lead guitarist gonna rock less than a $5 front man and a $10 lead guitarist? There's many ways to build an awesome band that will kick ass.

Football teams are no exception. Some teams build with spending crazy dollars on WR, we've elected to go crazy on DL.

The Giants won a couple of Super Bowls with that approach.

Any team, any scheme, can win a Super Bowl. You just have to be hitting on all cylinders at the right time.

Well,..that, and having talent. But playing your best at the end of the year is going to give you a solid chance to bring it home.

There is no right formula for this. You build the best team you can, and then you go out an fight for it.

What was the last team to win the super bowl that had a high powered, receiver focused offense? Greatest Show? Maybe 13-14 years ago?

Probably. Not home right now so I'll have to look it up later to be sure.

Would you consider Manning's Colts team 'receiver focused'? (I probably wouldn't)
