Hornets Are Interested In McDermott At #9?

Disregard measurements.. Coach Clifford said McDermott would be a SF. Drafting a SF would mean we are giving up on MKG because we are by no means drafting a backup with the #9 pick and I doubt we are giving up on our best defender.

Mcd was graded out as the 12 or 14th most athletic player in the draft by draftexpress.

You still not not get how easy it is to get the step / angles on a player that has to play you tight.

I think McD can play SF at starter level.

We should bookmark all these opinions. Because this is going to be hilarious.

Yeah ok I can't wait to see him trying to guard Nba 3'.

You do realize that playing a college PF is way different then playing NBA talented wing players?

Clue

The NBA guy are pretty quick on close outs and a lot better at keeping a slower player from the basket.

It is way different for a post college player to switch to a perimeters player. On the defense and offensive end.

Just a question what positions do you think he can play at a starter level?

I have played against NBA players on the regular until about ten years ago. Don't need to tell me how a guy can score against NBA talent. And I was shorter slower and less hops than McDermott.

Being an elite shooter is a great equalizer. You don't have to cross people up to create shots.

Just stop

1st young Larry could handle the ball was a great passer and 6'9.

2nd Larry played in a different time where every team didn't have a athletic 3 or 4 . Like most teams do now.

Being able to handle the ball. And being able to break someone down off the dribble and cross them up is 2 different things.

Example: Gerald Henderson can handle the ball.

Larry bird was not adept at crossover and braking someone down off the dribble. He was a great shooter and used screens and basic fundamentals to be great. Which is my point. Also he was very unathletic. Much less than McDermott. Was slow and not laterally quick.

There's a lot of unathletic players in the nba today. And some of which are great.

I'm wondering if we drafted him, would we put him at SG?

It's something to consider. Of course there would be similar concerns to him guarding the 2 as there would be him guarding the 3. At least he'd have the height advantage at the 2.

Young Larry Bird could handle the ball for his time. And again he played in a different time. Where 4' were mostly back to the basket in the paint players. Those times have changed.

And you're wrong Gerald Henderson has below avg. Handles and can barley use his left hand which is most of his problems.

And like I said I'd rather not draft a Kyle Korver, Mike Miller, James Jones, Shane Battie, one trick, bench shooter at 9.

    • Tepper makes the wrong decision in literally every case. It's laughable at this point. It is as hard as getting every single decision right. Give me one example of one thing he's got correct in 8 fuging years. It's no surprise that promoting the assistant GM that worked for the worst GM that I've ever seen was a mistake. This goes all the way back to insisting that Ron run a 3-4 and the defense goes to complete poo and we suck. That decision in my opinion cost us 3 or 4 more seasons of the greatest middle linebacker to ever do it.
    • Currently Cam and Bryce have the exact same career completion percentage at 59.9. The differences in their play/career arcs are immense, however.
    • LOL we have been talking about fixing Bryce Youngs footwork for almost 3 years now.if his footwork has shown little to no improvement in that amount of time then you might have to come to the realization while at the same time using a little common sense it's not natural to Bryce Young with his small stature/ size to step up in the pocket plant his feet & drive the ball from the back leg to the front leg while remaining stable.no instead you see BY becoming easily overly excited & then as a result starts alot of unessary scrambling & hopping around & maybe it's not necassirly he is scared all the time & it has more to do with his height & he is trying to find the right angles for visual purposes whatever it is he  puts himself in a position where he cannot stay balanced when he throws the ball & anytime you throw the ball unbalanced it not only effects your power but it also effects your accuracy/ timing point being the real problem with Bryce Youngs bad footwork is his small size ...just saying
