Tony Gonzalez, Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow Jr.

It's still 6 games against top TEs in the league.

Shockey missed games and still ranked 11th in receptions among TEs.

Winslow also missed games and recorded 40+ receptions, and has been known to haul in 80+.

Gonzo is still getting ridiculous production even at his advanced age for an NFL player.

whether or not we've improved it's going to be a tough challenge regardless and our linebackers and safeties better be up to snuff.

lmao.. where did Meeks say he was going to run things like Trgo did?

.

Consider who the OP is. :D

Ryan could be leaning big time on Tony G if White doesn't report. THEORETICALLY that would make things a bit easier for Carolina.

I don't know what to expect from Shockey and KWII though. I am pretty sure that Payton was a bit torqued at Shockey last year and Davidson SHOULD know KWII's weaknesses pretty well which may help.

Not skeered of those TE's. It wouldn't matter who was playing TE in NO with Brees throwing all over the yard, we've got to defend the pass on every play. Tampa's QB situation is bad, so Winslow is not a real threat (but he IS a fugging soldier), and Gonzalez is old as hell. Plus, we have our secret weapon for TE defense. Let them catch it over the middle, turn up field, then Chris Harris strips the ball for the turnover. See Antonio Gates and Greg Olsen from last year.

Its all how you look at it:

Gonzo is old and has maybe 2 good years max left in him.

Shockey was average at best last year in a pass-happy offense. They could of plugged in almost anyone there and got the same results.

Winslow could be the most dangerous of the group, but he is inconsistent...had a couple good years but he did nothing spectacular last season. He could have a similar type year as last year, considering he has no stable Qb option again.

and ZERO td's... considering you guys traded a 2nd and a 5th for him he was terrible last year.

Considering he will be here long term it's dumb to grade a trade on one year. The main problem with Shockey seemed to be his problem with picking up and fitting into the offense, with a full offseason in the books he looks a lot more comfortable.

    • Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.
    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
