Underrated/Overrated

Way overrated for some years now and that's Tony Romo and the whole frigging cowboys team

I have to disagree with this. Tony is a good quarterback that has had a terrible supporting cast. Does he make bone-headed mistakes sometimes? Yes, but he also makes plenty of good plays. It's unfortunate because he has the stats and can't get the wins.

Did you even watch that?

I did, and 75% of his passes were from play action. I'm not saying he isn't a good QB, I'm saying he's over rated. He has the best run game/ defense in the NFL, and he does a good job of managing the game. And again, you showed be a highlight tape bud. When scouts or GMs look at a player, they don't judge from highlight tapes. Everyone has one.

Note: play action is important to note here, because how much respect Marshawn gets. All I'm saying is I want to see him on an offense were the majority of production and responsibility falls on him. That's all I want to see before I call him a top 20 player

The highlight tapes proves he is not a game manager. A game manager doesn't juke 3 defenders out of their shoes then throw a 40 yard bomb for a td on a regular basis. Cam means more to his team than RW obviously but the dude is not a fuging game manager. That is laugh out loud funny. RW is a playmaker

He is a good QB but not a top 20 player to me unless I see him have more responsibility and production. I do agree that the guy gets out of the pocket and makes great plays out if it. I remember that first hand by playing him. A QB in the teens needs to be elite in my opinion. Its laugh out loud funny that people think he's elite. He is simply not. He hands off the ball, runs around OUTSIDE THE POCKET off of the play action and throws the ball down the field.

Put the guy on an average team where he is expected to be responsible for and produce the majority of the offense. Keep him in the pocket and then see if he is a top 20 player. My money is that he would struggle.

Its funny how much benefit of the doubt he gets.

If he isn't elite then why is he in the teens in the top 100? The point of this thread is to say who we think is over rated.

He is obviously better* than Trent, but hey had the same role. Its hard to deny that.

Controversial opinion here, even on the Huddle, but...

Overrated: Brees. He's really good, no doubt, but no poo a good QB is going to set a bunch of passing records playing in a domed stadium and throwing the ball 600+ times per season. He throws a ton of picks too compared to the guys he gets listed as being in the same tier with (Brady, Manning, Rodgers).

I willing to bet that 70% of RWs cometions came out of the pocket, most off of play action. Imagine the amount of respect that warrant as far as marshawn and how good of a play action that is. A mobile QB who is more. Comfortable on the move and outside of the pocket than he is inside of the pocket. Sure.. The highlight tape showed a few throws inside the pocket. Yeah, its a highlight tape. He's had all season to string some throws from inside the pocket, inside a 4 1/2 minute window

I didn't think this thread was the top 100 reaction. He's in the top 10 because he is a second year qb who has a Super Bowl ring .

And he to a point had a role like what you were saying but RW made plays that win games.

Next you'll claim that kickers and manning have an advantage playing in Denver because of the thinner air. Playing in a dome is just as difficult as any other other stadium. I mean look at all the dome teams that have won the Super Bowl in recent years. I can't think of any off the top of my head but I'm sure there's at least one in the past 60 years

He is over rated. Can't get around that.

You said game manager

He pretty much is. And people talk about him as elite. He's over rated! You are a game manager if the majority of the offenses production and responsibility is not attributed to you! Why is that such a hard concept to grasp. This guys makes most of his plays outside of the pocket, off Marshawns play action. Come on dude

    • If I said more about why I see the league being part of the problem I couldn’t post.  Still love football, my dad was an example of the difference between college and pro. He ended up coaching for several years. I went on a couple of visits for college ball but knew I wasn’t NFL caliber and had some pretty compelling interests outside of athletics and here we are. I went another way. Still love football but seriously falling out of love with the NFL. Have zero love for Tepper.    edit: to stay OnTopic the wins come from facing teams that are down for whatever reason, that week. I don’t know how to know more specifics ahead of their random demises.

    • On the whole, I share the exact same sentiments. Tepper has pushed me to 'academic interest' status but it's hard to turn off 30 years of overall interest. Have to say though that the continued fractionation of the product and the ubiquity of gambling around the NFL in general is sure a growing turn-off.
