Sporting News Report: Stephenson battle down to Hornets, Pacers, and Mavs

It will help a lot if Rockets sign Ariza and therefore let Parsons go to Mavs.

That is best case scenario for us right now I think

Except for the fact that, that invites Chicago to the party.

This is from the Bulls beat writer

Joe Cowley: Source: DWade was never seriously in the equation, but don't rule out further calls to Camp Lance if Ariza is gobbled up. Ruh-Roh.

This came out shortly before the SN report. They need a SF and not a SG. I think if Parsons falls through, they will go hard after Ariza and Deng first.

Maybe not, but he would have to play out of position because Mantae Ellis is the SG

Can Ellis play PG?

He did a fair bit of ball handling for them last season. Averaged nearly 6 APG. Give him the reins at PG, and put Lance at SG. Lance can handle the ball as well. Granted they wouldn't have a traditional PG, but they would have two guards with decent ball handling and distribution, and both can score as well. It could end up being a decent back court duo if they could gel.

Though they do need a starting SF. So you would have to think they'd try and target Deng or Ariza if they don't get Parsons. Unless they bring back Marion. Could they afford Lance and Marion?

Why trade Henderson? Keep him, he can come off the bench.

If MKG continues his struggle that prevent him from playing in the 4th we can still have Kemba, Stephenson, and Henderson on the court to close games.

Stephenson can guard the 3. Makes too much sense to keep him, and next season he becomes more valuable with expiring contract

I agree that we have to take this risk if we want to take the next step. We are running out of chances to get a real difference maker for next season. And, after seeing our draft picks in action last night, I think that gives us even more motivation to get it done with Stephenson, Ariza, or Deng. Since our best shot is with Stephenson, we need to make it happen.
