SIOS Goes Down... Under

I figured I'd pull a PhillyB and update my trip as it comes along.

I flew in yesterday (long ass flight), and I'm living in a house with 30 other students from the US, UK, Australia, France, Brazil, Asia, etc. The house is within 5 minutes walking distance to everything in these pictures.

It's not nearly as exotic (yet) as PhillyB's getaways, but I'll be traveling throughout Australia, SE Asia, and New Zealand for the rest of 2014 during my exchange program. I'm about to make the ~3 mile walk along the coast from Coogee Beach to Bondi Beach and back, so maybe I'll have some cool pictures to upload afterwards.

And just a sidenote: As dumb as this might sound, this area (Sydney's eastern suburbs) reminds me a ton of the coastal areas I've been to in Central America. The roads, the marketplaces, the scenery, the crystal clear water, even a lot of the houses. It's weird how the two places are worlds apart and different in so many ways, yet the only way to tell the difference would be the cars and the people. Oh, and everything except boxed wine and Dominos is super expensive.

Nice stuff man.  That part of the world is a great place.

I went to Rotarua (NZ), Auckland (NZ), Brisbane, Frazier Island and Sydney on a big 30 day trip one time.  It was sweet.

Definitely soak in the aussie rules football.

I'm so excited about Aussie rules. I only got here for the tail end of the season, but I've been learning a lot about the game and it seems amazing.

Any suggestions about where to go or some must-see places?

I was there in 2006 so it's hard to remember specifics but definitely go luging and bungie jumping if you get a chance.
