I genuinely like this team.

The team is starting to feel like a place that gives opportunity to guys who genuinely like the game and have a strong urge to win.  It hasn't felt like that in forever....if ever.  Foxy and Dom (let's go ahead and excuse GS) brought their own unique culture to the club, but Rivera has his own and it's starting to come into fruition.

Having that energy and passion helps the talent translate.  That's why some of the more "talented" squads can't get it.

And it makes sense why we realized someone like Nicks wasn't a fit here.

I know you probably enjoy being a smartass who actually misses the point, so I'll clear it up. I'm not just saying "I like the Panthers." I'm realizing that this organization is full of very classy, high character people. I don't think there are many sports teams like this one. There isn't any bad blood between team mates either. Team usually don't get along this well together. Teams have culture and I like the one we have.

Can you grasp that?

My comment wasn't directed at you. My remarks were directed at the fact that for years this forum was full of 'fans' who trashed the team and its players. Four years ago this thread would have been flooded with people complaining how we have no present or future and the team sucks or they would just try and poke holes in your postive thread. For years fans had no moral and had no real hope, it was awful and annoying. Charlotte football is growing culture, a never say never attitude, an attitude we didn't have for the first 17 years.

No need to be rude.

Alright well I took your comment the wrong way.

Four years ago... that was a pretty dark time.

The GOAT, the best MLB of a generation, a bonafide OROY candidate and future Pro Bowler at WR, and the best front 7 in football. Enough to give us a chance in every game vs a tough schedule despite our weaknesses.

Like I said....

    • Everyone talks about how important it is to draft a QB in round 1 and have the "5th year option" I haven't seen it play out the well over the past several years. The good/great QB' aren't playing the first 5 years under their original deal.  After year 3 or 4 they are getting mammoth extensions. Having Penix take over in year 3 may actually save the Falcons some money over the next 5 seasons. I doubt they'd give him an extension after his first year as a starter if he took over the starting position after the guaranteed portion of Kurt Cousins new deal ends in 2025.   In terms of playing time, Penix 3 years as a starter would be ending with the 5th year of his rookie deal (assuming his option was picked up). The money Penix would be making in year 5 of a rookie contract would be significantly less than the upper echelon 5 year starters are making now.
    • I mean you can see it in his highlights - he has CBs from Yale and Colgate in his hip pocket.  Yes he's making contested catches and moving the chains, but those aren't even P4 CBs and he's struggling to separate.
    • Working for a season under Adam Thielen (another undrafted WR) should be a positive factor.  Some of these issues are correctable.  Many kids from small schools not only lack experience against DI schools, they lack the coaching that develops talent.
