Fisher #1 pick, UDFA Bell playing better

Regardless of how Bell works out long term, I'm convinced that between him and Chandler there was more talent (and obviously more experience) on the team than in the draft at OT. So glad DG didn't fall for the knee jerk reaction of 'gotta draft a LT'.

Matt Kalil, Lane Johnson, Joeckel, now hopefully Matthews, have all had performance or injury issues. Even DJ Fluker looked like crap in their first preseason game. We all want a young stud OT but we have definitely dodged some bullets considering what we did get in these drafts.

It has been really bad recently. It used to be a safer pick, but now there's absolutely no reason to not just role the dice on a quarterback instead.

I feel like a prophet sometimes. ..

The thing is , if Bell plays good, then the same people bitching won't man up and say "man I have no idea what I'm talking about most of the time".  They will either say:

Bell really improved in the off season

I really thought Bell had potential I just never saw him live up to it

I was never worried about Bell

Cam is so great he makes Bell at LT look competent.

If I have learned anything being a Panther fan it's this.  Usually it's whatever we think is good that ends up being the problem.

2011 . Going into Cam's rookie year everyone was fine the defense would play and the offense was going to struggle... What happened?  Offense was top 10 defense was bottom 10.

2012  . Cam is going to improve by leaps and bounds.  Offense will be unstoppable.  ... What happened Offense was very stoppable. Run game disappeared.

2013.  I think we had a either the 1 or 2nd toughest schedule before the season started.  Everyone was saying we have no one is secondary, our defense is doomed.  ....What  happened?  12-4 ,Top 3 defense.

The only thing I can count on is me being a fan.  Everything else who knows.

Being a fan doesn't mean you don't have opinions or heart felt concerns about certain players or situations.Saying that many fans dont know what they are talking about is harsh and untrue.Alot of people on here follow this team very closely and know what is happening and some don't have a clue.Being a swami isn't a requirement to be a true fan.

I remember at least one poster wishing injury on Bell and I see he still won't give him an ounce of credit. Sad.

Bell has taken a ridiculous amount of chit from "fans", yet all he does is give it his all, works hard, stays off the injured list, and does what the coaches ask of him. Great to see him doing a better job.

If they do find someone better to take the position, I'd bet Bell would take it like a man and do whatever he could to still help the team.

Captain Munnerlyn is getting toasted in Minny. It's a shame tbh.

exactly! a good teammate/ familiar face does justify a good player. this dude is average at BEST. with him gone and no clear lock on the NB position we have already upgraded... now cut Josh Thomas and we're certainly better... Norman is on watch, he's acting like Richard Marshall at times.

I for one have been a huge critic of the OT situation. I hope Bell and Chandler make me eat my words. We will see as the season progresses, but I'm not crowning anybody just yet. I think our guard and center trio options are solid though.

Matt Ryan wears braided belts.

    • Please don't tell me you just averaged the QB ratings of all of Shough's starts to declare his QB rating as better 😂 I hope you don't actually believe that's how it works.  Otherwise please show your math on Shough's QB rating as a starter. Thanks for including Shough's 2.6 more Rushing YPG in this comparison, really doesn't feel at all like you're desperately grasping for as many straws as you can here. The truth is, it takes a statistical bottom-tier starting QB like Bryce Young to make Shough look simply OK by comparison.  And that bottom-tier starting QB still, by your own admission, puts up more points for his offense than Shough.  You're framing this as damning for Bryce, but in reality the fact that him and Bryce are so neck-and-neck is shining Shough in a very poor light. Yes Shough is a rookie and Young is a 3rd year starter, which is why I circle back to my position of Shough having a "pretty solid, encouraging rookie season" whereas you're fanboying over him.  Never mind that Shough is 2 years older than Bryce though.  Normally yes a QB's experience in the league is invaluable...but Bryce is kind of a unique situation considering the biggest complaint with him is he is too physically limited to succeed in the league.  Do we think a QB can overcome severe physical limitations simply with experience?  Also I remember wayyyy back (/s) when we cared so much about DJ Johnson being an older rookie and our standard for them being that they're more NFL-ready and able to contribute sooner rather than later.  But now all of a sudden Shough is just a poor little 26-year-old rookie on an awful team.  Seriously...the way you frame everything around Shough is straight out of a fanfic.  Constantly referencing with tears in your eyes how he's succeeding against all odds on such an awful team.  Meanwhile the Saints' D is 14th in PPG and their offense (led by Shough) is 29th in PPG.  Telling me how the Saints managed a win on Shough's shoulders against the Jets last week who put up...*checks notes*...6 points against the Saints' D.  Yes god bless the savior Shough who willed his team to victory against those juggernauts led by Brady Cook.  Never mind how Taysom Hill threw as many touchdowns in 1 passing attempt as Shough did in 49 passing attempts.  Yikes.
    • Who's gonna drop the gloves? I can't think of a single player on this team that can fight. Period. Much less get the best of an opposing player. Please.
    • as a starter, Shough is better this year in all the aspects I shared with you.  Facts. You disputed nothing I said because I’m talking starts and my numbers are right
