Cut or Keep Greg Hardy

Panthers would be wise to be proactive.  Some things are bigger then football.  I also know there are crazy women out there looking to extort players.  What evidence are the Panthers aware of in the Greg Hardy case?  How does it differ from Ray Rice's case?  What we've learned from the Rice case is that sometimes the legal system doesn't get it right so teams shouldn't only use the results of the courts to make decisions.  Hopefully the Panthers decide to conduct a further investigation aside from the results in the courts.  This would allow us to avoid a future PR nightmare and distraction to the team.  The truth is, the media is getting ready to hone in on the Hardy case.

If the Panthers know the details of the Hardy case (and the details end up being really bad) and are just trying to keep it quiet until the legalities play out don't they still have a responsibility ultimately to set an example for the community and do the right thing?

I'm all for for giving Greg a fair shake if the evidence is mucky.  However if there's clear cut evidence that hasn't been made public the Panthers shouldn't waste any time parting ways.

Watching that video struck a chord for me because I grew up in a home that featured an abusive stepfather.  I watched that video and it made me think back about some sour memories of what happened to my mother when I was young.  I simply can't support a cover up for the sake of football and I'd like to think the Panthers hold themselves to a high moral code.

I really hope that Greg didn't act to the same extent as Ray Rice.....but if he did he just has to go.

The Panthers don't know the details and there is little hard evidence of anything. He is done as a Panther at the end of the season. No need to cut him now in a Super Bowl push based on nothing

I really hope that's the case man.  I really really want Hardy to be innocent.  He's one of my favorite players.

BTW that was comforting.

Courts didn't get anything wrong.  Rice's fiancee dropped all the charges.  Think what you want of her, but the reality of that situation is between him and her.  If she needs help, feels threatened, wanted to leave him, sue the poo out of him, etc she could have and in the future will be able to.  Don't know why everyone thinks it's their job to stick their nose in everyone else's poo.

Even if Hardy is convicted it is nowhere near on the scale of what Rice did.  Sure there was a struggle, some roughness and threats, but he didn't knock her out cold.

I don't understand why people are surprised by the video.  The first video from outside the elevator of him dragging her around unconscious surfaced months ago.  It was declared she was knocked out cold by Rice (and I believe that was confirmed by both parties in court).  I don't know why the video changes anything.  Is it because most people are too small minded to read words and create images from that?  They need a freaking video to show exactly what everyone knew?

Regardless, there is no video for the Hardy incident.  Even if some footage of something exists, we know the incident took place throughout different rooms and it is unlikely the whole story would be told (unless you clearly see Greg striking her).

the ray rice case kinda proves to me that hardy is innocent. when an NFL athlete attacks a women, just one hit is gonna leave her unconscious. this chick claimed hardy beat the crap out of her and she has minor bruises on her arms (much more consistent with being restrained, not attacked), yeah OK. her entire story seemed unbelievable

He might not be innocent, but the difference between his case and Rice's are of completely different animals.  Not even Holder is claiming he directly struck her, the most severe of her claims is the toilet seat smashing on her arm.  Even in a worse case scenario Greg threatened and roughed up a little woman and caused some bruises.  Rice punched a girl out cold.  Neither are good, but one is significantly more damning than the other.

I think it was shocking because of how unprovoked he was.

I agree there are varying degrees.

Knocking someone out is definitely more ... brutal. But the more I think about it, Hardy's incident COULD (depending on what actually happened) be just as bad.

With Rice it was a tiff in an elevator that led to one quick punch. Over. But what if Hardy and the girl argued for over ten minutes? And what if he chased her? Grabbed her? Got in her face and yelled? Pushed her? She probably feared for her life. So, emotional trauma versus waking up with a black eye.

Every couple gets into fights at some point.  Decking a broad twice really hard possessing NFL strength is worse.  Rice could have killed that woman.

I more concerned that Greg did more that's what been released.

You don't know that.  Just because he wasn't in danger doesn't mean he wasn't provoked excessively.  Hell hath no wrath like a woman scorned.

To be clear I'm not condoning what he did in any way.  I did break up with a girl once and she tried to drink mouthwash.  I poured it in the toilet and she then tried to drink the toilet water.  While the cab was on the way she smacked the poo out of me and broke every glass in my kitchen.

Because I try my best to be a man, I didn't lay a finger on her.  Boy did I want to though.

Unless Rice's woman told Goodell that she directly attacked Rice and he had no choice but to strike her...........  then I'm not sure why he waits until now to suspend him indefinitely.

Goodell knew that Rice struck her,  he knew that he knocked her out..  why punish Rice twice for the same crime?   If a video with a different angle comes out of the hit,  will Goodell impose a perma ban on Rice?

I mean,  get it right the first time.

    • These are the three deep throw attempts that Will Levis made in week 12. His first one is a beauty; Levis and Westbrook-Ikhine gets the safety to bite on a deep dig only to go over the top for the score. His second throw is another beauty: a crosser to Calvin Ridley reminiscent of Bryce to XL (though Ridley has noticeably more separation on his route). His third and final deep shot was an incompletion from his own endzone on 3rd & 14 with pressure coming down on him (to me, this seems like a solid throw).   Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-02.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-01.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-01.mp4 Levis took half of the deep shots that Young did. The differences are: Ridley had much better separation than XL, which is why his deep crosser turned into a 63yd play since he was able to scamper for another 15+ after the catch. Westbrook-Ikhine holds on to his TD pass. Bryce had to throw one away to preserve time for a field goal. Bryce had two more throws that were incomplete due to the WR Are we really holding the three WR errors and clock management decision against Bryce in order to say that Will was better throwing deep in week 12? That's not passing the eye test nor is it confirmed by the data.
    • If you go on the PUP list before the season starts, you are gone for the year. If you start the year on the PUP list then you can get off of it. Kind of semantics, but we are putting him on the PUP list now which is before week 1, that’s why people who come off of it aren’t really on the PUP list until week 1, hence you usually hear right before the season that they are “starting the year” on the PUP list. I think PUP list and IR may basically be the serve the same purpose now because you also sometimes hear that if a player is added to the IR before week 1 that they aren’t eligible to come off the IR list for the entire year. Now, everyone added to IR (post week 1) can come off after 4 (or more) games so the PUP list is meaningless since it’s 6 games and starts at week 1. Anyone added to PUP or IR in the preseason is gone for the year.
    • I saw Brooks maybe a few weeks ago, he was walking pretty normally. of course he wasnt running, jumping and cutting.
