Stop panicking, the defense was due a bad game, it happens.

Before tonight, Carolina's defense had held 13 of its last 14 regular season opponents to 20 points or fewer.

A string that good is nearly impossible to put together.

To put it into perspective, Seattle's defense, over the same time period, had only held 10 of its last 14 regular season opponents to 20 points or fewer.

Conversely, the Panthers have not won a game in which the defense gave up more than 20 points since the final game of 2012.

Since the start of the 2011 season, Carolina is 3 and 20 when the defense gives up more than 20 points.

The defense will bounce back in a big way.

We are going to win the NFC south.

Everything that could have went wrong for us tonight did go wrong. Literally. That is not an exaggeration, that is the truth. Penalties, turnovers, and all-around stupid play at the worst possible times.

The Steelers weren't that much better than us from a talent or gameplan perspective. We lost this game mostly by shooting ourselves in the foot. If Cam actually runs away from the pressure on that fumble, we don't inexplicably jump offside on the FG, and Philly Brown doesn't go full retard on the punt return, there's every chance we actually win.

This is the NFL and it's hard to beat even this league's crappy teams. Make as many mistakes as we did tonight and you'd be hard-pressed to beat even Jacksonville.

Chalk it up to a learning experience and move on.

I did not think it was possible to run on our front 7.

Was an amazing job by Pitts OL and running back.

Le'Veon Bell is scary good as a runner. I've been so used to watching backs run straight into our front but his patience and shifting ability to let blocks develop and find the running lanes was special. Don't think we've faced a running back like him in the regular season in awhile and it certainly caught us off guard.

Wasnt the defense fault that we couldnt score

Lol We let in 29 pts on Defense not counting the ST TD. Not giving the defense any blame is ridiculous when the other team was running all over us for most of the game. We failed in all three phases today, but after watching cams post game interview i am not worried that they will get this corrected and be ready for next week.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
