As much as we crap on Shula, we have a ton of evidence Chud was a problem. DWill and Smitty took multiple shots at him after he left. RR commented that the hardest part about being a new HC was building a cohesive coaching staff (hint the only significant change was Chud). Reportedly he ran through plays only once during practice and didn't bother to check if players were comfortable with it.

There's a reason he was fired mid-season in Cleveland. Chud is just too much of a headache to justify his "genius".

He wasn't fired mid-season, many people thought he should have been given another year. And some players probably didn't like him because he was a no-nonsense coach that wasn't afraid to galvanize the offense. We could use some of that now.

Chud was great. A little to much read option. But I'd rather put up 25 ppg than 6.

I've read up on Ramsdell's resume on the Panthers website. It's probably just pro panthers staff propaganda, but holy hell I went from 6 to 12.

Can't be any worse than shula

He's always been a positional coach, but extremely successful with every one of them. I've read a couple of articles, where people that have worked with him commented that he was one of the best offensive minds in the game. I feel like it was a setup for the whole "hire within" mantra.

I wasn't passing judgement on their personalities as much as on their playcalling.

 

It may be true that Chud was unpopular or it may not. Apart from that, I thought he was a crappy playcaller.
