Per ESPN: Rivera says Cam and Luke "have to be perfect"

Issuing a challenge to their two best players to be even better. I don't see this as a bad thing

Put more pressure on the stars of the team instead of demanding the others to set their bars as high. Only the Panthers and their fans.

But I will say...Now Luke knows what Cam has been going through for the past 4 seasons. Since he got on the team Cam has been nothing but a tugging workhorse for the undisciplined players and incompetent coaches. Clearly neither Shula nor Rivera hav an answer to solve this team's real issues.

If I am wrong sorry, but I think that putting pressure on the two leaders of the team in turn forces them to hold everyone around them to a higher standard.  It's a leadership lesson.

Every QB in the NFL is under pressure. Joe Philbin wouldn't commit to Ryan Tannehill starting until Wednesday last week. Just look at what Mike Glennon has been through in Tampa since being drafted. Drew Brees was replaced in San Diego. Steve Buerlein was cut because Seifert wanted his guy to win the job. Tom Brady stole pro bowler Drew Bledsoe's job. Peyton Manning was cut for God's sake. We could go on and on.

Why is Cam a special little snowflake free from criticism and pressure? Cam has been under pressure since he committed to Florida. This is not new to him or any other NFL QB. He came out before Rivera's comments and said it was nothing derogatory. Ron is coming from a good place and everyone is working towards the same goals.

And I know the response of every Cam white knight, "well he doesn't have an offensive line",

"well he doesn't have any weapons". I'm sure Ron Rivera is aware of the personnel on the field. and on top of that, Ron knows a ton of things we don't know. Like what the play call is. And I'm sure Ron isn't blaming him for things that are not his fault. But when Cam makes a bad read or fumbles a shot gun snap, Ron has to let him know about it. That is Ron's job.

U're kidding right?

Wow!!! Working Cam like a horse is the same in your mind, as the situation of those other QBs. Amazing how some of you folks think.

I think both welcome it.

If that is the case then why every time I listen to folks on NFLN they are always complaining about the endless pressure their elite QBs are under and how much the team needs to step up and help them.

Only fans who know what type of team they have would by into such a twisted logic.

Cam can handle it.

Some of you guys act like Cam is an egg that needs to be treated carefully or he might break.

He is an ultra competitive beast who is a tough SOB. He welcomes the challenge I assure u

Spoken like a true taskmaster. Only seeing strapping and talented young men like Cam as workhorses for your weak ass team.

I sometime feels like I am transported back into history when I read some of the postings on this site. some folks will never chance.

I am sure the concern about what Rivera said is more to Luke than Cam. I am sure if Rivera had said that only Cam need to be perfect, no one would have a problem with that.

Because they're competitors, and they're professionals.

These two guys hit the field knowing they're taking on the best football players in the world on a weekly basis, but they're not scared because they know they're also two of the best football players in the world themselves.  Their attitude is "think you can beat me?  Bring your best!"

Like I said, they welcome the challenge, and the pressure, because they know how it makes them feel when they conquer it.

My problem with the quote has nothing to do with Cam or Luke. It's that it removes responsibility from everyone else.

If everyone else is waiting around for those 2 to save the day, we're in trouble. That's why I think it was an ill-advised thing to say.
