Defensive Changes

This defense is just not catching anybody off guard this year, teams are just more prepared. I always say one season of success in the NFL should always be taking with a grain of salt because the following year teams will have a whole year a game tape on you and they will be more prepared for your tendencies. Its about how you overcome  teams after that success determines how good you are as a team or player. In this teams case we dont have the scheme or personnel as good as last year to overcome opposing teams strategies. This is where the coaching staff is truly tested, last year we knew had good our players were because a lot of them dominated there positions, now we need the coaching staff to make up for us not having as much talent as we did last year with schemes and better game planning.

How are you getting Harper off the field? ? His suckage is on level with the rest of them.

thats where hopefully Tre Boston can contribute but i dont believe hes quite ready due too lack of exposure and chemistry within the starting defensive unit but i do see him adding a spark of life off the bench in situational pass plays, right away.

We didn't catch people off guard last season. We were super vanilla and predictable. We lined and up and did what everyone knew we were going to do defensively....and pushed people around.

And in the NFL....you can't scheme around drastic talent issues. You simply need to add talent.

We got lucky last year and played near perfection to hide our issues on D. We got much worse this year and somehow thought we could not only duplicate our absurd season upfront but be better....

    • When we have everyone playing like they should, we can win the Cup. That has been the biggest problem when we get to the playoffs, but this year seems to be fixed mostly. We could have had multiple if we had done this in the past.
    • Here we go Bryce Stan’s you should love this. Hell it may be one of you.  It has every cliche excuse and then some.  Unintentionally hilarious my limit was reached when he said Bryce had it hard because four play callers.
    • Luke goes in to the specifics of what he looked to accomplish in joint practices.  Basically they may work with someone on the opposing team to stress something they feel is a weakness in their own game in a different way that can be done with someone they are familiar with. That they can have predetermined stresses but since neither wants to get injured and it has absolutely no bearing on anything there is not the level of concern that would be in a preseason game.  He would also even chat with opposing OC.   It seems like an interesting nuance among the vets and savy pros.
