I'm pretty sure everyone saw this coming

They will play the cap card anyway. We must learn to accept that Rivera and DG are going to dance with the ugly heffers they brought to the prom.

Can't play the cap card.

Cap prohibits you from making huge signings.

Cap doesn't prohibit you from being forced to have Bell, Amini, rookie, Chandler as your opening day OL.

This was Dave intentionally going with a weak OL.   Simple and plain.

As soon as Gross retired DG should have done what ever it took to sign a decent tackle. Could have said screw paying Harper and use the cash to help sign Collins who instead went to a division rival. I understand the moves made in the off-season except signing Harper and not bringing in help on the Oline. This team could win with a little help on the line and a competent offensive coordinator

i refuse to believe that DG was so cocky that he thought bell and chandler were the answers. nobody looking at both of them could actually think this was the answer. there might have been some form of hope like most of us here before the season said. but somebody with DG's pedigree for talent evaluating could not sit there and think that. I think he thought Cam could continue to mask deficiencies on O while still having a dominant defense would win us games.

i think he just thought in the short term tagging hardy would keep this front seven (the obvious strength of the team) intact and would give us a good chance to be competitive again over anything else without sacrificing long term goals. this backfired obviously. and this is what we have.

i think the question should be should we have gone OL instead of Kelvin in the first round. Should we have spent a good chunk of our cap on a marginal tackle this year. I don't know anymore.

Thank God for this post. I was truly starting to believe I was the only one seeing things this way. It's very clear to me.

    • frank, that ball was very catchable where it hit his hands. I don't even think he bent at waist until after he dropped it. He actually slows his pace to position himself to catch the ball. That will never be a pass I'd blame on the QB.   NFL+ _ Live Games on mobile, NFL RedZone, NFL Network and More! - Google Chrome 2026-01-15 13-54-54.mp4
    • https://overthecap.com/position/left-guard   Lewis is the 9th highest paid Left Guard in the league. I bet it was higher when the deal was done two years ago.    https://overthecap.com/position/right-guard Hunt #3 highest Right Guard   There is a tab in the upper left portion of the graphic that allows looking at the different positions.
    • It was a great play, but a better catch than throw. The TE boxes out Moehrig for position. Jumps to catch the ball. Catches it and turns 180 degrees while he's still in the air. Comes down and toe taps to stay in bounds and lunges for the goal post. That first part where he boxes out Moehrig for the ball is huge. If he doesn't do that and simply fades back to catch the ball (this is why Bryce doesn't trust XL), then Moehrig likely undercuts the pass for a break up or INT. Stafford trusts his receivers to make plays for him. Here I slowed it down so you can see it. Great play but amazing catch and score by the TE.  NFL+ _ Live Games on mobile, NFL RedZone, NFL Network and More! - Google Chrome 2026-01-15 13-45-32.mp4 NFL+ _ Live Games on mobile, NFL RedZone, NFL Network and More! - Google Chrome 2026-01-15 13-44-37.mp4
