Teal over Godfrey?

I think it should be an open competition. But I doubt it will be. Godfrey wasn't impressive last year. Last night, he again appeared to be the weakest of a weak bunch. Godfrey seems more like a CB than a S....maybe Fox made in error there.

To be completely honest with you, when I made the Cherry thread, Teal came in my mind and I forgot about him

Me personally, I definitely liked what I saw. He has speed and instincts. I liked the pick, and the blitz. Good thread, definitely would like to know what others thought too

I'm iffy on Godfrey, I haven't seen much from him. Haven't heard much about him in camp either. Not a good sign

I'm a big Teal fan that doesnt understand why people say he sucks and should be cut, but I don't think we should go that far yet. Godfrey was pretty darn good early on last year. He defintly helped win that Cardinal game last year on that special team save.

Perhaps you guys are right. Every offseason, some players take steps back while others take steps forward. But I have to think Fox gives Godfrey at least another year to really learn the position.

With little pressure from the defensive line as a whole, it's tough to really envision who is going to step up in the secondary. Teal was about the only bright spot of the bunch last night, and that's saying something when Harris and Gamble are out there. I didn't get to watch the game as closely as I wanted due to a family issue: was Godfrey with the ones? Did he play more than a few series?

    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
    • It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.
