Sunday we play at Minnesota. Falcons vs. Cards. Saints at Steelers

Been having a fun time in another part of the board but want to add that the Vikings secondary is no joke.

I was ready to write them off and not really give two seconds to beating them.  In the first quarter I saw that pass D and secondary play and was impressed.  They can get sacks because their coverage is so good - it might be a little more difficult then you think.  Lets hope a run game gets started.

At this point I think half the Huddle would root against the Panthers in the Super Bowl if we got to it, because they hate Rivera so much.

They don't care. They want to sacrifice success for a slightly higher draft pick.

If by some miracle this team got to the SB, everyone would be on board. That said, there are some of us here that fear winning a couple of meaningless games at the end of the year against weaker opponents would mean another year of Ron Rivera. It's not that we hate him, we just don't believe this team will ever amount to anything with him as head coach.

As for the whole draft pick thing, except in the most extreme circumstances, I would never want to see us lose to get a better draft pick.

Getting effective and intelligent leadership for this team going forward may be worth a couple more losses this year. It's kind of like folding when you are playing poker. Of course you want to win, but there comes a point when it's more important to face reality.

Rule: Any Huddler who has hoped we tank to miss the playoffs has before the Minnesota game to recant their heresy.

I recant. I am in that number. I am starting to get a feeling that we can make a run on this thing starting this week. Minnesota has a tough defense that is underrated though.

Hopefully we can open up some holes in the run game and Cam is back to his old self after the time off.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
