No! Because if he was Defensive Coordinator that would mean that Rivera would still be here. And God Forbid, the Panthers could can Rivera and make Ryan the new HC. You could see JR making a lazy move like that to appease fans/the media if things continued to go downhill.

Ryan is too much like Rivera: Good Defensive Coordinator; awful Head Coach (though better than Rivera, as he made two NFC Championships with Mark Sanchez as QB).

PS/Speaking about Sanchez: How dumb do Panthers fans who argued against Chip Kelly replacing Rivera feel now? :phew:

McD isn't going anywhere.

I'd honestly rather have Rex than Rivera as a HC though

Yes!

I wouldn't want Rex as head either if I had a preference. However/you're correct: Rex is a better demonstrated leader and even Head Coach than Rivera, though he kinda lost his touch in the team/game management aspect the past few years.

But if I was stuck with either, yes, I'd take Ryan. But give me better options though. Cause I wouldn't want neither on this Panther team right now (even/including together as a tandem). No No No! Lol

Needs to be our next HC

Rex Ryan is not a good head coach.

His coaching record in New York follows the typical Ryan pattern of early flash followed by sustained mediocrity (same as Rob with the Saints).

The Ryans are great at making 'sudden impact' but lousy at adjusting once opponents catch on to their schemes.
