Per Woj,

The Nets have talked with Charlotte on the possibility of a deal for Stephenson, a Brooklyn native, and have been scouring the league for intel on Stephenson, sources told Yahoo. Charlotte has had a willingness to consider center taking Brook Lopez, whom they nearly signed to an offer sheet in 2012, in a trade, league sources said. The two teams have exchanged ideas, but Brooklyn has been mostly spending time trying to investigate the risks and rewards of possible scenarios with Stephenson.

The Hornets want Brook Lopez for Lance Stephenson. A deal is not imminent but Brooklyn has not closed the idea on the deal yet.

Possible Trade

Charlotte Receives: Lopez, Bogdonovic

Brooklyn Receives: Stephenson, Henderson, Biyombo, lottery protected 1st round pick

From Woj's story: "Charlotte has been open to discussing the Nets' big-salary stars as part of a broader Stephenson package, including Lopez and Joe Johnson, sources said. The combination of a third year on Deron Williams' deal – as well as the emergence of Walker as the franchise's point guard – leaves Charlotte uninterested in acquiring Williams, league sources said."

I dont want to lose a first round pick. I can't count on lopez he's injury prone

Depends on how long the protection on it lasts. I am also weary of giving up 1sts.

I can't envision a front line of Lopez and Al working but anything that moves on from Al I'm encouraged with. Assuming they are looking post Al here.

The FO's love of Kemba is very disappointing.

Monday is gonna be VERY interesting.

lance and 1st for JJ and lopez?

Either a first or Vonleh along with a host of other players to make salaries match. JJ and Lopez together is 38m in salary for the season and the Hornets would have to get close to make it work. It would have to include Jefferson to work, I've ran the numbers and only way to make the numbers work is for it to be

Stephenson, Henderson, Williams, MKG, Vonleh, Zeller for Lopez, Johnson and bogdanovic

Jefferson would absolutely have to be part of the trade for it to work and make sense if JJ was part of the trade.

    • https://www.yahoo.com/sports/article/versatile-2nd-db-named-panthers-154026075.html Smith-Wade's ability to play corner, nickel and safety makes him valuable to a young defense trying to rebuild after finishing last in the NFL a year ago. "Chau took advantage of an opportunity,'' coach Dave Canales said. "He made tackles. He had an opportunity on an interception, and he made it.'' Our defense has got to come alive for us to have a chance of winning our Division!
    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.
