"He's the most athletic Quarterback... Ever"

Ever see Griffin drive the deep out into tight coverage? I remember him trying it once his rookie season and he ended up airmailing it 5 feet over his WR's head. He has no confidence throwing timing routes into tight coverage. He throws a great/soft deep ball though. Take away the bomb, and force him to throw outside the numbers and he'll fold every time. Not even about pressure for him. Just contain him running and take away the middle of the field.

so overthrowing is now a standard ? Take away the bomb ? so now being able to throw the long ball is a liability?

Not sure what you mean... I'm saying Griffin has a pretty good deep ball.  Good touch allowing the WR to run under it.

Whereas Cam throws his deep balls on a rope, not allowing the receiver to adjust to the ball.

Take away the bomb and the middle of the field by running cover 2/3, with the underneath coverage dropping between the numbers. Force him to throw to the sideline from the pocket.

He's ruined now but pre injury is the point and his rookie year was more than impressive and in comparison to Cam the same excuse is given for shortcomings when injured. changing the standard does not really answer the question.Your skill of analysis are wanting. pre injury he was a good passer with a catchable ball in short intermediate and long passing game. 800 yds rushing is good by NFL standards as is a 102 QB rating. Doubling the win output and going to the playoffs just put the icing on the cake as an impressive season for RG3 .

the attitude and work ethic were not a question before he was hung out to dry by Shanahan and he went out and played with an injury when he never should have been permitted to play. That shows his willingness to do what it takes for the team. now one cannot blame him for a changed attitude as there has to be mistrust in an organization that just used him up and wants to throw him away. he was more than impressive as the healthy unspoiled RG3 , he is ruined and has to reinvent himself to have a sustained career in the NFL. the funny thing is I think he can do that but that remain to be seen. Bottom line is nothing supports your charge of unimpressive in the case of a pre injured RG3.

He isn't ruined now....he plays like he did his rookie year. His wheels just aren't as good.

I watched his game Sunday. He had a real nice stat line too until a certain point. Just looking at the stat line you would think he was having a strong game.

But like his rookie year, he wasn't doing anything as a passer. Screens and check downs. If your WRs are getting the YAC....it means stats and low INT numbers.

Force him to do something else and look downfield and.....he impodes the second his first read is covered. Implosion came.

He sucked as a rookie. The gimmick O worked well enough. System gets credit. He was as unimpressive as a passer then as he is today.

He was faster as a rookie. Out running guys is nice though. He could do that in a straight line as good as anyone that has played QB.

And I was raised a Skin fan so part of me is still a closet Skin fan. RGIII sucks. He is the definition of a college QB. They need to dump him and take the loss on the chin. They are wasting years forcing RGIII on coaches who clearly are telling the front office he sucks

As a DT Julius Peppers was the most gifted physical specimen of his position in perhaps the history of the NFL......his combination of genetics and conditioning has given him the raw tools to become the greatest of all time............but where does he rank among the all time greats in that position as he nears the end of his career?

Cam is almost in a similar situation for his position as a QB but is young and may be able to mature his role specific to the position so that he can excel beyond what genetics and training has provided him so far.............time will tell........ but this current playoff situation will be a great crucible of opportunity for him to hone his skills and mental sharpness now and for the future...............

no he didn't suck as a rookie, they won 10 games and went to the playoffs.you may not like how he plays but saying he sucked is just BS.

    • Interestingly I think we have kind of of gone through this as an organization. Richardson implemented an FO driven tank. Bad roster, no cash spent, coach uninterested. It may have been for different reasons but I think the results were the same. A team that wasn't going to win many if any games. We ended up with the #1 pick. Cam Newton came in and changed the franchise. It worked, but Cam himself pointed to the losing culture in the locker room needing to be changed. It probably took about 2-3 years for that to happen. Tank worked pretty damn well for us. Cam is one of one. Not another like him, everyone can't deliver on his draft status AND change a culture basically on his own.  So as an exercise here are the last 30 #1 picks. If you tanked and got to pick #1 how many of these guys do you think were worth it? Not just good players, but franchise changers. Guys who will take your culture and shift it so the tank was actually worth it. I would say maybe 9 or 10 guys would be worth a tank, pending the last 5 picks?    2025: Cam Ward (Miami (FL)) - Tennessee Titans 2024: Caleb Williams (USC) – Chicago Bears 2023: Bryce Young (Alabama) – Carolina Panthers 2022: Travon Walker (Georgia) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2021: Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2020: Joe Burrow (LSU) – Cincinnati Bengals 2019: Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) – Arizona Cardinals 2018: Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) – Cleveland Browns 2017: Myles Garrett (Texas A&M) – Cleveland Browns 2016: Jared Goff (California) – Los Angeles Rams 2015: Jameis Winston (Florida State) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2014: Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina) – Houston Texans 2013: Eric Fisher (Central Michigan) – Kansas City Chiefs 2012: Andrew Luck (Stanford) – Indianapolis Colts 2011: Cam Newton (Auburn) – Carolina Panthers 2010: Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) – St. Louis Rams 2009: Matthew Stafford (Georgia) – Detroit Lions 2008: Jake Long (Michigan) – Miami Dolphins 2007: JaMarcus Russell (LSU) – Oakland Raiders 2006: Mario Williams (North Carolina State) – Houston Texans 2005: Alex Smith (Utah) – San Francisco 49ers 2004: Eli Manning (Mississippi) – San Diego Chargers 2003: Carson Palmer (USC) – Cincinnati Bengals 2002: David Carr (Fresno State) – Houston Texans 2001: Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) – Atlanta Falcons 2000: Courtney Brown (Penn State) – Cleveland Browns 1999: Tim Couch (Kentucky) – Cleveland Browns 1998: Peyton Manning (Tennessee) – Indianapolis Colts 1997: Orlando Pace (Ohio State) – St. Louis Rams 1996: Keyshawn Johnson (USC) – New York Jets 1995: Ki-Jana Carter (Penn State) – Cincinnati Bengals
